The Premios Soberanos are the entertainment industry awards ceremony. This year the annual show business extravaganza is set for Tuesday, 12 March 2024 again at the National Theater in Santo Domingo. The event is organized by the Association of Entertainment Writers (Acroarte) and sponsored by Presidente beer.
Acroarte released the list of nominated artists. The artists Juan Luis Guerra, Pavel Núñez, Vicente García, Miriam Cruz, Ilegales and the comedians Raymond Pozo and Miguel Céspedes captured the most nominations for the 2024 Soberanos Awards.
For his Mambo 23, Juan Luis Guerra is nominated in the Merengue of the Year, Featured Artist Abroad and Video Clip of the Year categories.
With three nominations, singer-songwriter Pavel Núñez joins Guerra as Composer, Soloist and Concert of the Year. Vicente García – one of the most admired artists of the new generation – was nominated in the Composer, Featured Artist Abroad and Concert of the Year categories.
Merengue singer Miriam Cruz is nominated in the Orchestra of the Year, Show and Collaboration of the Year categories. Vladimir Dotel with his group Ilegales is nominated in the Album of the Year, Song and Video Clip of the Year categories.
On television, Raymond Pozo and Miguel Céspedes emerged as the most nominated in the TV section with three, such as Comedy Program, Comedian of the Year and Comedy Show.
The Soberano Awards are televised on national TV. The show is an all-nighter but is a definite one-time sit to get an overview of what’s popular on the local show business and entertainment scene.
