DR to play Mexico for slot in AmeriCup 2025

The Dominican Republic basketball team will be playing Mexico for a slot in the AmeriCup 2025. The match is set for 23 February 2024 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Santo Domingo at 8:10pm. The teams then will meet in Mexico City at the Arena on 26 February 2024.

The DR, Mexico and Canada make up Group C. 16 national teams are competing in four groups to choose the 12 teams that will make the AmeriCup 2025. The DR ended in 8th place in the past AmeriCup.

In the qualifiers for AmeriCup 2025, each team will play each opponent in their group twice under a “home and away” format during three windows, which will take place in February and November 2024 and then in February 2025. The FIBA AmeriCup 2025 will be held at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua, Nicaragua from 23-31 August 2025.

The Dominican team has a new coach, David Diaz. The team roster will come from these players:
