Medusa case updates

In the continuing of the former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez corruption case known as Operation Medusa, the former administrator of the Attorney General’s Office, Jonathan Joel Rodríguez Imbert admitted to corruption charges before the judge of the Third Investigative Court of the National District.

Rodríguez Imbert affirmed before Judge Amauris Martínez that everything he did was following instructions from the former Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez, and Rafael Canó Sacco, former Chief of Staff of the Attorney General’s Office, who with the change of government traveled abroad and has not been indicted.

Rodriguez Imbert declared that although he had been given power to sign contracts, assignments and other processes in the name of Jean Alain Rodríguez, everything he did was under instructions from Canó and the former attorney, because he did not have the legal power to make decisions.

Imbert Rodriguez’s defense lawyer Ingrid Hidalgo said that despite admitting the facts, her client has not yet reached an agreement with the Public Ministry.

Imbert Rodriguez joins another 21 accused who have admitted their guilt in the case of more than 60 accused in the 4,000-page Medusa Operation file.
