Be smart and you will be fine, Juan Dolio is not a dangerous place unless you are looking for trouble. See Virgo's third post on p. 3...this was not specific to Juan Dolio, but it's still a horrific and terrifying crime. Back in maybe 2014, a group of us rented a guagua to go to the beach for the day. When this news broke, my sister in law pointed out that our driver that day was one of the victims, David Polanco. She was fairly shaken by it. I only met him once, and I didn't know him well. I can say that I hope there is some semblance of justice for he and the others.
