You are right. You can't catch AIDS. But you can catch a virus, whatever name makes you happier to call, you may or may not be able to fight off and if not this virus will in time breakdown your immune system ...

What virus are you referring to that can be caught sexually and breaks down the immune system, because there has never been such a virus found. If you are talking about HIV, it was pointed out that nobody has ever shown that virus even exists.

HIV is declared to exist when one has a low T-cell count and existence of certain antibodies. There is no evidence that it hurts the immune system at all.

Further, there isn't a sexually transmitted virus that we know of that destroys the immune system.

One thing I notice as I've traveled the world, that there is always that common denominator - where the hookers and AIDS are, so are the male tourist who most likely brought the virus there in the first place.

Before it was AIDS, it was small pox and other viruses brought from industrial nations to war torn, poor colonized nations whose body could not defend against strange viruses.

It has never changed, and if that disease problem is ever stopped there might be some mad scientist introducing a new virus, and here we go again.

If you believe your providing an economic service for poor destitute woman in poor countries mainly because most of you either can't afford prostitutes in the States or you don't want to pay it, thats on you. I guess thats your twisted way of justfying it.

My point is we understand the methods of transmitting, and if it is true 50% of Dominican prostitutes have AIDs (I guess they were BORN with it) Then truly who is the fool when you sleep with them.

Finally I believe and nothing will change my opinion and that is we westerners brought our diseases to them. Simple as that. Read your history books.

1st, Domincans are westerners. they are not the native people of the land who are all extinct.

2nd, at least one STD was brought back from the new world to Europe. I forgot which one, syphilis maybe? I believe columbus contracted it among others.. Perhaps someone whos studies that stuff can correct me.

3rd, we dont know exactly where AIDS came from. According to Jim, it might not exist or have always existed anyway. Most believe it came from africa, not european society

4th, we live in increasingly global society. Attempting to remain isolated from the rest of the world is virtually impossible. Get used to it...

It is still being debated by some individuals but many (most?) researchers seem to be falling into the camp of syphilis being a new world disease even though related diseases, which are not sexually transmitted, can be found in both the old and the new worlds (yaws). See the link if you're interested in some of the detective work being done by some individuals to isolate the origins of syphilis. The reason I mentioned Euro/USA because we are far more inquisitive to seek out other people who are generally not interested in seeking us out or if they are, they don't have to money to do so. We will go any where, where we can either get a cheap thrill or make a quick Buck(dollar) - sorry dont know where your from. Thats how we think. We are also quick to examine and test things on people in other parts of the world all in the name of science. We simply throw them some food, or a little money then prod them with needles. If we do it to our own lower class in the States, trust me I know we do it to people in poor nations.

Germs and diseases come from all reaches of the globe, the environment determines what types of diseases can form, grow, multiply and transmit. If you come from the city and decide to take a trip to the Amazon, chances are you will catch something if your not vaccinated. Same with people from the Amazon. The chances of them catching something walking down the streets of New York or Omaha, Nebraska is far greater than someone from those cities. We all build a tolerance within our own environment.

So when Europeans brought blankets to Native Americans, they had no idea the germs on the blankets would kill them. But then you had those with evil ententions and took advantage of that.

But I also believe that we create and have created the very diseases we cannot cure and thats whats troubling to me.

Finally the Origins of diseases will always questionable and there is always room for a debate. But I simply beleive that AID/HIV or whatever you want to call it did not come from a monkey or Africans like most want to believe.

It's amazing that the history of the continent of Africa has lasted this long with little info on this disease or other diseases but when someone catches something in the States or Europe that they cant explain. It came from Africa. We have the African Mosquito that traveled across the atlantic to carry some other disease, than an African Bee that is swarming through the states. Or we have the fruit fly from Mexico or South America destroying our crops. Problems always seem to come from everywhere else except here when we can't explain something.

The only disease that I know comes to mind that almost wiped out a society is the black plague in Europe, and that was for society simply being nasty.

Give me a break.

Sorry, Crisco, but a lot of what JoeScholar said was right... even if a girl in the 3rd world does want to be with some fat old white guy, it's because he has money, as you said, not because he's actually sexually attractive. So therefore it's true that those that use prostitutes are the guys that can't get it on their own merits, so to speak.
