i agree with you, but here is my puzzlement..

sex tourism in the DR is not a new phenomenon, and people have been coming here for sex for decades. i remember that as early as 1989, the word was all over the caribbean that the DR was where you wanted to be if you wanted some easy trim...the year sticks in my mind because that was the year i buried my dad, and some guys at the funeral were planning a trip to the DR.

i joined them.

The problem now days have grown from just chicas sex, prostitutes sex to all kind sick arraignments to include minors and human trafficking.

I have another theory. They want the girls available to them, on the side, behind closed doors. They do NOT want anyone to assume all Dominican women are sluts, because that reflects on their sisters, daughters, mothers, etc. Sosúa and Boca Chica paint that picture to some.

Close. They want them. They don't want tourists wanting or using them. The tourists upset the dynamic, and screw up pricing. They don't understand how it should be done, and because of than have thrown everything out of whack.

But, but, maybe they had enjoyed the company of one of those NICE Girls . who came over to the Condo on their Pesolas and gave a 500 peso Massage, and then accidentally did a little Extra ..

That does not make them participants , does it ?

lmao

i know, i totally twisted your words .. my apologies ..

Here's an idea....

Let's change the lens on this conversation... of easy women....

anybody admit to being refused 'service' ??

do all these girls have no pride or preferences ?
all sluts... just money grubbers ??

I bet not....

but I doubt I'll get any takers on my question.... all you Cary Grants & Brad Pitts & Robt Redfords

You were the guy whose solution was to throw several thousand sex tourists in jail. Now prohibition never works. It would be swell if you could put a winking eye emoji after the post where you are kidding.

The government could indeed solve their problem by throwing a lot less than several thousand sex tourists in jail.
Keep in mind I am not suggesting they do so, I am pointing out what is possible and what could be done to diminish the visibility of sex tourism. According the DR law I posted earlier, it appears there is a way to stretch the law to do so if and when desired.

On this topic, I attempt to keep my personal thoughts on sex tourism and the world's oldest profession itself out of the discussion, but instead convey how it is perceived by those in my family and in the government and for them it is not looked upon as a good thing. People who are not good at reading for comprehension could misinterpret my point.

that's odd. i have always heard that underage participants were always a part of the trade, even back then...

Cabanas, they are all over the DR. Ever been in one? No check in, no check out, no windows EVER, when you pay it is like a bank swivel, you don't see who collects, and they don't see who pays.

Would it surprise you that 95% of the business are Dominicans? Who do you think the men take there? School Teachers, their wives? Who?
Actually, all of the above and more. I am sorry, I could not resist. :glasses:

What is so hard to understand? They don’t plan to eradicate prostitution, they don’t want the Sosúa and Boca Chica reputation to stain the entire country.
This summary answers everything in a nutshell. It is that simple.

Well, sadly, no, its not that simple. Or at least its bloody too late.

First off try to think of what export represents a country. Japan-electronics. Germany-cars. South Korea-phones and co. China-cheap sh.it. Sierra Leon-diamonds. Colombia - cocaine. Etc, etc......
The dr ?? Bannanas ? Avocados ? Satellites ? Well, no. Sadly, its whores.
Lots of reasons for that. No need to look into them. Its a done deal.

Then, in this "world" of whore related things, Sosua, among other places in the dr, stands out as A place to go for whores.
And not high end, expensive, trained escorts, oh no. More like pick-up-a-cheap-and-nasty-sl.ut-on-the-street kind of place.
That must drain some cla.ssy tourists all right.......

And we are discussing why the dr goverment is cracking down on street workers ? Smh.
Mind you, I have no idea if the dr goverment is actually adressing the problem or not.

LOTS of places in the world have a legal cadre regarding prostitution. You dont go to switzerland because whoring is legal, do you ?
Well, it would be for the best that the same applies to sosua.
Something like, visit sosua ! Its pristine beaches, its ####### and its #########.
And once the tourist is here. Oh, btw, i discovered prostitution is legal in sosua, cool !
Which, I hope we can agree, is a much betted state of mind, then " yeah lets go to sosua for cheap se.x with girls !!! Yeah great idea, its great, the girls have 0 prospect of a normal job, so they dirt cheap !!!! "

One thing is sure, it has to be a long term dr gvt project if they want the dr to have a better reputation.

.

PR as well until in the middle 90's when the new governor closed down all the whore houses.

The Black Angus was a name known all over the world.

I guess those tourists ended up heading to DR.

This from the man who cannot spell the word "Bananas". Wow, what a nasty horrible view you have of Dominicans. I know so many nice educated Dominicans who are also clever. I just think anyone who sees Dominican women as a bunch of lazy stupid people who can do nothing apart from open their legs should a) learn to speak Spanish b) leave the gated community c) leave Sosua and d) get to know the people who live in this great country.

Many posters are clueless when it comes to Dominicans, culture and how the DR actually functions. Most expats in the DR cannot name 1 or 2 Dominican friends they socialize with beyond the maid or gardener. They don't see who works in the banks, stores, run businesses etc. Most only interact with the poor, and have no clue about the middle class and up, you are wasting your time trying to educate some posters.

Sosua ebbs and flows, it will take a serious event directly effecting middle to upperclass Dominicans before it changes or the powers that be get serious about change.
