Are the comments about the "new construction and sales in Sosua" intimating that it is somehow connected with or as a result of herding the working girls around?
My view is that the slow steady growth of Sosua is a normal course of events.
The DR in general is still a good deal for anyone wanting to retire in the Caribbean and the North Coast being near hurricane free is a plus.

Moving the working girls around will have zero effect on Sosua and is doomed to fail.
The other day I saw a clever attractive well dressed working girl carrying a few pieces of fruit on her head thereby disguising herself as a street vendor.
People are incredibly smart and inventive at getting around poorly thought out rules.
In time we will see how long the herding idea lasts.
At the moment I see the working girls scattered all over the city plying their perfectly legal profession.

There has always been a trend for people to move here to get away from wherever they lived and within days of arriving begin doing all they can to "fix" the DR and make it more like the place they ran from. They were unhappy there with the status quo and are unhappy here.

I like the DR and Sosua just like it is, warts and all.

Yes, the daily DR1 news for one. Discussions on this board for another. Not to mention what is said in news reports from the international media
Honestly Ken? DR1 news and its discussion does not qualify as a "hot issue internationally".
I follow the media closely and there are lots of stories about the horrific conditions in Haiti.
There is zero concern other than the DR for the surge in Haitians fleeing to the DR.
Where else are they going to go?
I wish what you claim was true.
The sad fact is that the world does not give a damn about Haiti or where they are fleeing.
The international news media loves the photos of the devastation and suffering but where they go is of no concern and gets no play.
The only choice for Haitians fleeing the country is swim or walk across the border.

Likely strayed off topic far enough for one day here.

And I believe what you are saying if you say it ,.
But can someone show us some LINKS , with PHOTOS to these Many Projects ? this should be front page News everywhere . maybe I missed it .

I was only referring to one project - the Hotel/Condo towers that are proposed for the land behind Sosua Beach. The conceptual plans have been around a while. I'm sure they're just waiting for the right time. Which may be fairly soon.

Wow, You couldn't be more wrong. I could list hundreds of temporary construction related jobs needed to develop and build that project over 18 to 24 months. I could list hundreds of permanent jobs that will exist once the project is complete and running. Not to mention the impact on hundreds of peripheral suppliers and vendors.

Real jobs with health insurance, people providing for their families. And don't misquote me, I'm not saying it will "save" the North Coast. That's a favorite game played here on DR1. But those jobs count. Why do you think a President shows up and cuts a ribbon? It's so he can say "I created 400 jobs". Because those jobs mean something to his constituents.
I suppose it is better to work for a big corporation than ones own business.

Better do it before the Chinese beat you to it.

People on this board talk negatively often about their big stores, but look how much prime property they now own
"prime property" Sosua !!,. lmao, where is this magical location in Sosua prey tell. inquiring minds and investors are curious. I have heard for years about the Chinese investors buying the casino in Cabarete and turning it into a shangra la, it is still a ghost. What about that super prime location east of Sosua proper, that closed casino hotel with trees growing out of the roof. It has been defunct for ten plus years. Is that prime?

United States, we are begging for workers.

Skilled workers who read write and speak English, not what most Haitians offer.
The girls of Haitian origin now dominating Pedro Clisante have the one age old skill which seems to secure them work, until their ass-sets grow from too much fried food and they are replaced with younger workers again with the same skill set.

The point is to move them more out of sight to the east end of PC. Some people STILL DON'T seem to get this.
My view is that the slow steady growth of Sosua is a normal course of events.
It is as more houses are built and expats and snowbirds buy them.

Will you like Sosua after it undergoes a bit of a change to one small part of one street?

When you do not understand what you read the first time you reread it.
Try it and come back. I will wait right here.

you miss the point entirely.
The idea is that the behavior is perfectly legal in this country and there is no problem other than the extreme delicate sensibilities of a few people to force through a fix for a problem that does not exist.
An example of what is so often found on this site where folks make up a problem then propose a fix.
Forcing businesses to shutter and move
