    Illegal immigrants and government actions

But if you don't own a house and a car and can't provide a bank reference, should the DR want you to come? No chance of getting into most other countries if you haven't got any money, I don't see why the DR should be any different.

Italian Resident found dead in fridge

Guys, please, some perspective. How many ex lovers murder their partners every day in New York? Or London? Or anywhere. This is just one of those cases that pop up everywhere, nothing specifically Dominican about this one.

Italian Resident found dead in fridge

But in this case it was her ex girlfriend who would have known her situation.

    Illegal immigrants and government actions

This week they introduced a new scheme for illegal Venezuelans to register. They need to register within the next 30 days and it will give them 60 extra days in DR to sort out their status. Seems that they are about to have a big purge on immigration. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKWw1omLrYC/

I'm very concerned we are running out of hot topics :)

Joking aside, I am becoming more and more concerned about the number of people I know who previously had jobs and are now not working. I just wonder how they are all managing and how much debt they are running up, and what the long-term consequences are going to be for the country.

US tourists will be tested at their hotels

I can completely believe this. I wouldn't be surprised if the hotels had to pay for the tests as well Yes, exactly this. The tourists who go to AI's want it easy, they don't want to think about being tested. And the requirement to quarantine will have a big impafct. This will be the...

    Curfew Tightened Considerably

A lady I know runs an association of bars and she met with the president earlier in the week along with several others. Basically the message they were giving was that unless things were relaxed, a whole load of businesses were going to close. So many people really on the edge financially...

US tourists will be tested at their hotels

Fine for big hotels, how will this work for people staying in AirBnB's and smaller hotels?

President Abinader is proud of his government’s distance learning programs

My god-daughter did her TV class at my house yesterday. It was just 1 hour. How can that possibly replace a full day's education in school? It also seemed to start late, she was expecting it at 9am and it started at about 9.20.

Is Santo Domingo becoming a cement jungle? UNPHU architects say city needs more green

Exactly this. Their bedroom window is 3 feet away from the bedroom window in the next tower, but "they have arrived"

With a bit of luck someone will open a new shop on Pedro Clissante, that usually generates 50 or 60 pages of blah blah blah.

Is Santo Domingo becoming a cement jungle? UNPHU architects say city needs more green

I lived in Bella Vista for a little while in one of those towers which is about 3 feet away from the next tower. And the difference in temperature, compared to living right next to the sea on the Malecon, was huge. Hot days were unbearable and no thought of being able to open the windows...

Brits now allowed to enter DR again

Judging by the amount of time Abinader mentioned hotels in his presentation on TV tonight, it's pretty clear that the tourist industry trumps any other concerns.

Warning PCR test will be required to enter Canada with in 3 days of arrival

Abinader has just said in his TV programme "We are changing" that they are going to organise PCR testing via hotels for Canadians and Americans. So I am guessing that they will provide a testing regime for the all-inclusives, and probably nothing to help independent tourists.

Warning PCR test will be required to enter Canada with in 3 days of arrival

200 people were denied boarding by Canadian airlines because they either didn't have the test results in time, or had taken the wrong test. It's being reported in DominicanToday. It's worth following David Collado on Twitter as he says he is going to announce a new way to get these tests...

Brits now allowed to enter DR again

The ban on UK passengers arriving in DR was very quietly lifted today and UK nationals are now allowed to enter if they have a negative PCR test within the last three days. Nothing I can see reported in the news about this, but it is on the IATA web page now. I can't see this will have...

Warning PCR test will be required to enter Canada with in 3 days of arrival

It does look like you were lucky though, judging by the reports of more than 200 Canadians who were denied boarding in the last few days.
