Models just changed and the storm is headed west-northwestward, which means that at this point, it will imminently hit the DR. We just don't know how hard, because most of the thunderstorms seem to be on the southeast of the eye, which means that the southcoast might get alot more rain than we think..

Imminent wasn't the correct word, i admit... I actually meant inevitable and by inevitable, i mean that the storm is gonna touch the island at some point, even if its a tip and there's going to be heavy rainfall over some parts of DR if not the whole country.

Theres a posibility we might go through the same Dominica and Guadalupe went through at midnight and early morning today..

My brother just called from Baltimore and said he got a call from our niece that she was worried because she heard that there was major flooding here. I told him there is no rain at all presently. Then I looked up the Caribbean Satellite and the NEWS headlines on the site states that there is major flooding in Dominica.... I gave them a lesson in geography and country names.

I don't understand, it got all cloudy here in Santo Domingo and it rained for 2 minutes.. Now its all clear again, the cloud disappeared out of thin air and the moon and the stars are shining bright, the only thing that stayed is the breeze.

What part of Santo Domingo are you in? I am in Gazcue and not a single drop of rain. Moon shining bright but a cloud cover and no stars to be seen.

That rain / clouds are unrelated to Erika. Erika is nowhere near to Santo Domingo yet...

I am in Miramar and we had the same 2 minute rain as Natu described... all clear again.

All of Puerto Rico is under a curfew - started at 4 PM .. according to my nephew who lives there.

I was looking at PR using the link Don posted in #340 - it looks so tiny and vulnerable on that map. I read 4 are dead and 20 missing on Dominica. I hope everyone in DR and PR stay safe.

Went out to get storm supplies here in Cabrera...

Already drank both of my fancy 'storm' drinks and now I am eyeing up that bag of sour cream & onion chips... and the storm is still hours away... damnit!

This is a message from St Croix USVI - at 7:01 pm

On target! We are having very intense RAIN !
The power is out! Just went! It had been fluctuating for several hours. So far we've had only bands of heavy rain, but not a steady heavy rain. We are sorry for the people of Dominica who suffered such a blow. A local friend from there told me that the river overflowed it's banks and took houses and everything with it. Four people lost their lives. The storm is raging here. I hope every one here took the precautions necessary. May God help us and bless us all. I'm sending this out at 8:00p.m. Don't know if it will go out right away. Will update later.

Stacks or Pringles? I prefer stacks as my storm choice chip.
