I think next year we should have a 'Boxing Day' where all the whiner's and complainers about how the moderators moderate would get a chance to switch places with the moderators for 24 hours. Boy! Am I waiting for that one! I've saved up some great stuff I can't post! Let's see if they can keep up with me! :: evil grin ::

Tom aka XR ANIMAL LOVER ON BOARD. They're delicious.

And GOD saw that it was good and rested...

Yet he wiped out the world save for Noah and company because he just didn't like what he saw, afterwords he understood that it wasn't such a great idea to begin with so he made a post it note not to slit everybody's elses throath but he gave us the gift of Cher and Cucarachas as a reward to our stupidity.

So if he did in fact came to agree that he was a bit mistaken about the little leak thing then by all that's unholy why shouldn't moderators think twice or in the case of some out here, perhaps a few times over and then some.

As far as letting us Cucarachas, Ooops! my bad, us in the bronze age and like a metalurgy concotion those in the good atomic weight, become Moderators even for a few secs should be like GOD handing down the magic wand to Lucifer just for kicks, an enticing and dangerous proposition nevertheless.

Oh yes! That shouldn't be much of a problem to find out, here's one of those helping organizations:

P.N. as in Policia Nacional Dominicana, celebrating their 68th anniversary kicking the Haitian and Dominican rear ends just for the he.k of it!

In a more real note:
The church is very involved in helping the Haitian community inside the RD as well as offering medical and monetary support to those on the other side of the border, just pay a visit to any local church and have a chat with the chap there, they'll be more than happy to guide your help towards those who need it the most.

Also you can contact the local Human Rights Watch center in the DR for any information on how to lend a hand to help ease some of the burden the haitian immigrant faces in the DR.

:chinese:

Thanks, Picardo. I'm really asking whether there are any organizations devoted to ending the racist treatment of the Haitians in the DR? Whenever I visit, I'm disgusted by the slave treatment of Haitians in the DR. Beasts of burden to be used and discarded. I'm against that treatment of women in the DR too, but suspect there are more people who care about racism than care about treating women badly.

Just exactly what shade of pink is the sky on your planet? With every new post something whackier comes flying out of your keyboard.

This one has to take top honors in the most number of inane things said in the fewest words. Racist treatment of Haitians? Slave Treatment of Haitians? Beasts of Burden? Used and discarded? Good Lord woman! If that's what your trips here are like, might I suggest you seriously consider not Nagayo, but maybe an AI instead next time?

Tom aka XR Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused.

P.S.
Why would you be against the treatment of women. Most women I know like to be treated. I'm treating Alba to a seaside dinner tonight, in fact. Oh wait. Maybe you meant to say you were against the treatment your team of psychiatrists was recommending for you.

Thanks for proving my point

Anytime a woman has strong ideas on DR1, you guys go nuts. Go back to your male chauvinist pig time warp. And stop telling me what I can or can't say. And stop putting me down as a human being. Poor Alba.

Peace and hope. In the meantime, I'll cook some Dominican dishes to keep restore my spirits after the browbeatings on this board.

In your 36 posts to date, I have yet to see any evidence of anything even remotely resembling a point. Lunatic rants don't count as debates. As far as my Alba goes you should someday be so lucky. Then maybe you could stop hating yourself and blaming the rest of the world for it.

Seek medical attention.

Tom aka XR I saw an ad in Listin Diario for 24 Hour Banking But I don't have that much time.

Haitian slaves?

Gabriela:

I think it is great you want to help...but why don't you protest how Haitians are treated in Haiti?

You want to really help here? Go to Europe and lobby on our behalf on un-fair trade with them.

Why can they subsidize Agriculture and we are forced to NOT subsidize it?

Than they want us to compete in an open market when they are just dumping their subsidized products on us.

If you want a crusade you will be helping half of the 3 world, not only Haitians, but maybe there is no NGO willing to pay you for that, so we go back to the "SLAVERY IN DR" propaganda!!!

Obviously you are the one who shrinks at idea of a woman with balls. Follow your own advice, get some medical attention. Or pop a little blue pill. They say it helps.

Ah! So it IS a medical condition!

Obviously you are the one who shrinks at idea of a woman with balls.
Thought so!

They have hormone treatments you can take I believe to fix that. Or just find someone like yourself to marry and she can chop 'em off for you. Tell us, is this a male into female transition, or the other way around? Guess I hit the nail on the head about you vacationing at the DR penitentiary, too, heh? You're a scream!

Tom aka XR If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.

People, this is veering off the topic, but can't we discuss it without hostility?

It is a well-known fact that Haitian sugar workers in the DR experience appalling conditions. It is also widely accepted that domestic violence and murder by spouse is a big problem here, most victims being women. These are not minority claims, they are accepted by the mainstream.

There are organisations working to alleviate the suffering, like Batey Relief, and/or to campaign at higher level for better conditions like JRS. According to Anti-Slavery International the labour legislation brought in under Leonel Fernandez did a lot to improve the situation for Haitian sugar workers, but there is still some way to go.

That there are NGOs working in this sphere does not mean they are oblivious or indifferent to the suffering of Haitians in Haiti, or ignoring the unfair rules that put small economies (like the DR's and Haiti's) at a disadvantage in international trade.

TOM/GABRIELA,
Will you two kindly STOP it!!????

Tom, as a moderator I would have thought it was better for you to hold your peace (NB spelt 'ea' not 'ie') & let us others have a go at people that pontificate - If/When we feel pontification is taking place. Moderators (in my humble view) should only 'Moderate' on their forum & not comment/hypothercize on other peoples posts!! CERTAINLY not try to wind them up!!!!!!!!

Gabriela.
Don't you see the winding up that is going on??? Back off your "Soap Boxes" a bit, consider CAREFULLY what you are writing & only post where there is GOOD cause. I have absolutely NOTHING against strong minded women (heck, I have lived with one VERY happily for the last 14 years!!) but they must use their minds to see wind-ups, consider the implications of what (but more importantly HOW) they construct for forums of this nature!! Don't come out 'All Guns Blazing' & attacking the World as being unjust to YOU soely, & you will probably have a much smoother ride on posting here!!

Wishing you both Peace & serenity for the next hour or so at least - Grahame.

Doesn't charity begin at home?
Then again, I suppose we all need a cause.

Let's keep the personal insults out of this, I'm getting tired of it.
Everybody has a right to a point of view, regardless of how radical, racial, sexist etc it may be. Or in my case, how right it is :)

If they can convey that point of view in an intelligible way on the board, I have no problems with it, providing it fits into our guidelines.

Only the guilty need respond to this post?

Chirimoya:

Agreed those are all problems. But let us focus on the disease not the symtoms.

What is the root cause for most of those issues? Poverty, lack of education, corruption!! Thats 90% of it..

We need to attack these ills and the rest will fall into place. But everyone is always keen on dwelling on the result of the ills instead of the ill itself.

Haiti is in the news only because of bloodshed!

DR is in the news becuse of being Haiti's neighbor or because of poor treatment of Haitians. But when efforts are made to expand tourism for example these issues are brought out to discourage it!

Same thing in trade.. Start to compete in a niche market and boom, we are slave owners, human rights, bla bla bla..stagnation and the viscous cycle continues!

Let me add...

Thread participants/posters will soon be able to vote someone off of a thread.
Meaning that poster will no longer be able to post in that thread.

If a particular poster receives multiple thread bans, they will eventually be locked out of specific forums. If they continue... I'll let you guess the rest :)

Moderators will have the option of locking a poster out of a thread (viewing and posting privillages) or forum. This will be based on time or the posters ability to suck up to the moderatror.

Fairness

I do want to return to the topic. I just ask Robert to find a way of ensuring that people aren't voted off for having unpopular beliefs. Also, can you find a way of stopping the machine gun attacks on newbies? Respectfully yours....

My apologies to you Chiri.

I'll stay on topic if you will. Let's see. Hmmmm. The topic of the thread says '900 US Troops on the Border' I believe. So why are we talking about racism, bondage, slavery, and who's doing what to stop it?

Start another thread, please. So I can know by the title not to bother reading it.

Tom aka XR I'm writing an unauthorized autobiography.

Narcosis, good to see you again! What you say, goes without saying. Any organisation worth its salt has fighting poverty and corruption and promoting education as its basic tenet.

If someone wants to start a thread, fine by me. There is already information about this subject in the archives so perhaps it is better to start there.

If I know the answer, I will reply to the question. That is what the DR1 forums are about. Someone asks about health clubs, those who know about health clubs tell them where to find them. Ask about support groups for one-legged cross-dressers, those familiar with the issue will come up with the goods ;).

I am also in the habit of avoiding the topics, threads and posters that I find annoying or pointless, unlike some here who seem to seek them out, and thrive on insulting and attacking people that they don't agree with. If you don't agree with them, debate them. It works for me. If you think they are just stupid, ignore them. I believe in not attacking the afflicted myself ;).

But I guess everyone has their particular way of getting their kicks.

Chiri,

That's just it, there's no way that XR wouldn't read it and "chime in".

That said, as XR has told us all one-million times, you, me, and practically every other poster obviously do not have the reading and comprehension skills to understand his posts.

Some people will just never get it, right XR!
