Been living here a long time, i know very well the reality of what goes on in this country.

And in your heart of hearts, deep within your very own soul, you truly believe it was a hotel employee that so brutally attacked this woman?

Don't know, everyone is throwing theories out there as to what might have happened, i just don't see the husband as being the culprit. And i don't see this case being solved.

The director of the National Department of Investigations (DNI), Siegfried Wall Perez, considered that in the country there is no hostile attitude against foreigners and that there are cases that have been manipulated with intentions of doing harm.

He explained that the American Tammy Lawrence-Daley, who reported that she was brutally assaulted by an employee during her stay at the Punta Cana resort, Majestic Elegance, was "total manipulation."

In a note disseminated by the newspaper n.com.do indicated that the indications are that she was a victim of gender violence by her husband.

"In that case the conjecture was assembled from the beginning since it happened in January, neither she nor the relatives wanted to file the complaint and said that she was raped and the doctors who treated her, who carried out the investigation, said that she was not raped. There are already a series of lies manipulated, "explained Pared Pérez.

He defined as a "strange case" that being allegedly attacked in such a brutal way, he returns to his country and it is four months after he makes the public complaint.

"Higüey authorities told him to file the complaint to open a formal investigation and said no. The relatives also said no and since leaving the hospital he left the country. He did not file the complaint and for that reason there is presumed to be gender violence, "he said.

Pared Pérez explained that if she had made the complaint she would have to investigate her husband and all those who were with her.

He said that when investigating all the hotel staff, after having said that he had scratched and bitten his assailant and that he was apparently a hotel employee, it turned out that no one was scratched or bitten.

"It is also said that the affected asked the hotel 200 thousand dollars to not put the complaint and they said no, that it was preferable to investigate," he said

The DR cops just told the press there are holes in her story.
All right , which one of you called them and explained the case?

No need for a call. Any one with a 4th grade education and 25 IQ can discern this is a tall tale.
Someone posted a "black mail" type shake down. That certainly is spot on.

You still can not bring yourself to see the reality of this unfortunate situation.

My reality is there is no way any of us can have anywhere near enough facts to render any kind of informed decision. When you can't believe the couple, the resort, the police and the press, one is left with only the fact that the woman was beaten.

Thank you for the translation Marlon Rojas. I was going to ask you to translate it for some of our fellow members who may not have a firm grasp of español.

Any thoughts on the couple asking for $200,000 in order not to make the case go public?

The true victimization of the victim is that none of this would have gone public if $200,000 had been paid.

Of course she was beaten. That is obvious.

The only questions that matter are who did it and why.

Is financial need or a payday a reason to "create" the appearance of a crime? Ask poster Polar Bear. He knows all about that motive; hell, his "perps" were so nice they fed his dog and let him have credit cards and cash...in his socks.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic— Police in the Dominican Republic are investigating an attack on a U.S. tourist in Punta Cana that the woman recently made public on social media, detailing a vicious hours-long assault by a man she said was wearing the uniform of an all-inclusive resort.

Police spokesman Col. Frank Durán said that immediately after authorities heard of the January attack investigators went to the hospital where 51-year old Tammy Lawrence-Daley of Delaware was being treated, took her testimony and collected evidence from where she said the assault took place.

"There is a lot of conjecture about the case, a lot of information that doesn't match some of the statements," Durán said Friday. "We have to wait for the investigation to end."
