Another Happy Ending
April 17, 2009-Married in Santo Domingo
May 19, 2009-Package sent to Mississauga
June 17, 2009-approved as Sponsor
June 29, 2009-changed to IN PROCESS on E-cas
Early December-emailed MP to find out what was going on with my husband's file. MP was told that basically my husband's application for permanent residence hadn't been looked at and was "pending review by and immigration officer".
Jan 12, 2010-Earthquake in Port Au Prince Haiti
Feb 3, 2010-Emailed MP to try and find out what was happening with files at The Embassy in Port Au Prince. MP couldn't really find anything out.
Feb 18, 2010-emailed Embassy in Santo Domingo...they confirmed that they would be setting up an Immigration office there and transferring files to Santo Domingo but did not know exactly when that would be.
April 13, 2010-we both went to Canadian Embassy in Santo Domingo to try and confirm that our file had reached Santo Domingo. Receptionist at Embassy sort of gave us a hard time. Told her we wanted to leave some docs to add to my husband's file. She finally allowed us to speak with someone who confirmed our file was in Santo Domingo and that there had been activity on our file.
April 14, 2010-my husband received a call to come to the Embassy on April 16, 2010 to pick up the forms to re-do his medicals as they had expired.
April 16, 2010-we went to Embassy to pick up forms and were told that when the results of the medical come back in 4-5 weeks my husband will be issued his VISA. Went and re-did his medicals same day.
May 31, 2010-emailed MP to contact Embassy to find out if my husband's medicals had come back.
June 2, 2010-Embassy called my husband to bring in another Police Check and his passport. My husband goes to Embassy...they tell him to come back same day at 3pm to pick up his passport.
3pm June 2, 2010-YIPPPEE....my husband has VISA in hand and will be coming to Canada on June 12, 2010.
Process completed in 11 months from IN PROCESS date and 1 year from sending the package to CPC Mississauga.
Wheewww...what a relief!!!
