Explosion in San Cristobal

We just had a large explosion a few minutes ago. I knew it wasn't a transformer because it was too big. It was big enough to shake our entire building.

My neighbor just came back from town and told me it was a bad one and supposedly lots of people were killed and buildings leveled.

Lots of sirens at the moment.

As soon as I hear more I'll update.

That’s a very busy, crowded area, and where the bus terminal and police headquarters are too if I’m not mistaken.

This is downtown San Cristobal. Padre Ayala and Modesto Díaz streets. Telemicro released a bulletin now: 4 deaths, 20 injured. Still finding missing people. 2 separate buildings in the same area exploted. Video from Twitter:

What I have read online in IG comments was that a fuel tank of a bakery was being filled and an accident caused the tanker truck and the in ground tank to explode at the same time.

Everybody is generating rumors. No official report from Presidencia, Bomberos or high ranked officials at the moment hasn't been generated.

Hopefully this lead to an ordinance and strict observance that would prohibit anything manufacturing to be in the center of a town or city.

We are hearing over here that it was a Fuel Transport tanker Truck, like an 18 wheeler ? not sure if thats just another Rumor.

Thoughts and Prayers to the Victims and their Families , what a Horrible Tragedy ..

Update: 4 deaths (including a baby of 4 months), 33 injured. This is worst than the Polyplas explosion in 2018.

Phenols in aerosol form from the burning plastic. Other harmful contaminates too. Very toxic if inhaled.
