~I would agree with WW....dunno....too early to tell, the Weather Channel has changed the track over DR to the North and not directly hitting the East Coast as they showed last night....

The rain is still the issue in the North....Flooding will be an issue....

At around 9:00am Irene's Center was to the north of Aquadilla, PR, about 75-90 miles ENE of Punta Cana. The storm is tracking WNW at about 14 MPH. By PJT's humble calculations if the storm were to track directly west from it's 9:00 position it would track about 55 miles north of Punta Cana. That said, present time wind velocities are upwards to 70 mph with 15 miles of the storm center, with tropical storm force winds extending 125 miles from the center. Should the storm continue on its present route it will be distancing itself north from PJT's track calculation. However, one can expect strong wind gusts and heavy amounts of rain in the tourist zone and along the north coast. The wind velocity at Punta Cana airport at 9:00am was WNW at 16 mph.

Regards,

PJT

Super sunny and calm here, at the moment, in Puerto Plata. Clouds seem to be clearing a bit.
