Some of todays Temps.

I was feeling a little warm so: 4:30 PM.

POP airport. 90 F, feels like 108 F. Hi 91 F
Santiago airport. 91F, feels like 100 F. Hi 91 F
Punta Cana airport. 86 F, feels like 99 F. Hi 89 F
S.D. airport. 90 F, feels like 102 F. Hi 93 F
El Catay airport, Samana. 88 F, feels like 103 F. Hi 89 F

These are airport readings with lots of cement, cars, planes and asphalt that retain and reflect the heat.

I'm a good 5 to 10 degrees cooler but still feeling some heat. I've been redoing some landscaping and fertilizing. Of course I'm having to water and sucking up the water and elec. to run the pumps since we didn't get a drop of rain that was ALMOST possible for us. :(

:) Have a good rest of your day.

DOGS INSIDE this evening. That is to say that they hate THUNDER thus we call 2 of 4 Dungerdogs. Those 2 go nuts with any thunder at all.

Looking at the sky and HEARING the thunder decided to get our evening chores done early. As I'm writing one just about took my head off... for real.

Waiting for some rain and that is incoming as I write. Cable is out. Almost empty water cistern should be filled from the roof water in an hour or 2 at the rate that it JUST began to POOR. Yaaaaa HOOOOOO.

We get vibrator bed tonight, full water cistern and watered lawns.

What else could I ask for?

Flash flood advisory!

Looking around just about any place could have and may have flooding.

PLEASE keep watch. This system popped up right over the whole island.

Our micro climates can be very different so no saying who gets what.

The rains would be quite welcome. Today in Santo Domingo in the Julieta area it has been very very hot and humid.

Good morning. Last evenings TD was active and loud. I poured rain as hard as I've ever seen. It was all over and gone in ONE HOUR but we measured .93 inches of rain in that hour. Our cistern collected over 2' of rain water from the roof.

Since we have no rain radar in the Dominican Republic, it is very difficult to get a grasp of what is going on. From my place I can see it pouring in POP while we get nothing. So the reverse can happen also. I see several weather stations offline this morning and very few have rain gauges making it impossible to collect data and know what really has happened.

If we had continued with that rain rate of almost 1" an hour during the night, then flash floods would have happened.

The few stations reporting this AM show a warmer morning then usual so I expect it to be hot with possible pop-ups, higher chances in the central north and northeast. Though the satellite shows few clouds, we have a high layer above us where we are. Seas calm.

I just did a rough calculation. Our cistern holds about 10,000 gallons of water and when full is about 6 feet deep. It was down by around 3 feet before the rain and only a trickle coming in from Corraplata. We use a large area of our roof that collects the rain and use two 4" downspouts that go into the cistern after going into a screened catch. One of the catches was overflowing so the 4" pipe to the cistern was not able to handle that amount of water.

Each foot in the cistern is about 1,667 gallons of water. So we collected about 3,333 gallons of rain water in one hour.

That's a lot of water.

Thanks Olly. All information is welcome and it is amazing that we can be so close but have such different information. Our unique micro climates. :) Everyone is welcome to join in to add to our Dominican weather.

We have had remote thunder all late afternoon and a few sprinkles of rain. I look over to POP, about 10 miles to my west and it APPEARS that they are getting rain. The TD's stopped and we have a nice gentle soaking rain for the last couple of hours.

Looking at the satellite we have the same type of cloud cover over most of us. But I have no idea how much of those clouds are giving us some much needed rain in many areas. It appears that those stations that collect rain data are reporting some rain.

Let us know and share with all.

This cloud link changes as conditions change so what I see NOW will not be what you see in an hour or so.

Good morning. We got .06 inches of rain last night. A few scattered high clouds. The Atlantic Ocean has some swells out of the North. Looks like most of the Island is about the same with our AM temps being about 5 degrees cooler this AM.

Looks like a good day for us.

Good Morning! Looks like about the same for today, perhaps a little warmer. Chances of our pop-up showers is mostly low except for Santiago at a 70% chance. But we know that trying to forecast these are near impossible. :)

Good clear morning here. Our days have been getting shorter so the sun is just rising when I go outside to take a look. Scattered high clouds. A comfortable 75 F. Ocean in calm and swells down.

Looks like most of the D.R. is the same so we can expect full sun in most areas for most of today. Stations all report no rain expected.

Warm enough for ya? lol.

We needed to find an excuse to start the Big gen. just to turn on the AC. It had not been on for over a month so that was good enough to crank her up cause she needs run every know and then. OHHH, might as well turn on a few AC units while gen. is on. :)

HOT>>>> HOT. Have I covered it all?

A quick summery of today:

In the shade average around 88 F
In the sun average around 104 F

No rain reported at any station.

My office was 88 F without any AC. (hence part of the reason to start the gen.)

High outside at my place was 87 F in the shade.

No breeze and ocean is flat.

So what's going on in YOUR neighborhood?

:)

Good Morning! Looks like today will be a repeat of yesterday. HOT! Chances of rain are up some from yesterday; 40% in the south and 70% for the N.E.

With little cloud cover we get the direct sun that bakes everything and the heat is absorbed by the tile and cement roof that makes most places like an oven. I guess I'll leave Edenorte on today for some AC and watering the lawns. :( (we are 95% solar so we have to be desperate turning THEM on.)

Looks like my area got the High for yesterday. I didn't look at the "feels like" but would guess over 104 F.

Thanks Olly. We have been dry and with the heat I have 3 lawn sprinklers going and just could not stand the heat in my home office so AC is cranked up.

POP airport shows 95 F with a feels like 114 F today at noon.

Click on the Weather Stations feature and you will see stations pop up and see the temps. Click on a weather station and you get more details.

Grumpy morning to you. Our solar only gives us 110 so we have turned Edenorte on full time to power a 220 water pump for our dry brown lawns and AC starting around noon and all night so we can sleep. We will go over the magic 700 kwh's that will make THEM very happy. :(

It looks like the same all over today, perhaps a little cooler but you most likely you will not be able to feel the difference. Chances of pop-up rain are up to 50% in some areas so don't expect much if any.

A few scattered high clouds over us now so expecting full sun again today. Not even a breath of air moving. Atlantic Ocean is flat.

Haaaa! Eat... Edenorte. ? we didn't turn any AC today and only needed a couple of hours to water the lawns.

Real close though at still HOT.

I don't see anything from the weather stations that is indicating any changes from what we are getting. Temps will slowly go down and perhaps an increase for the chance of some pop-up rain here or there for the next few days.

Weather and Beyond.

I did my duty and checked pools and cisterns for water. Glad that I did. Main cistern is down by half and infinity pool is very low. Watering the lawns was the priority with our heat and no rain. Everything is a balancing act. (our lawns are also back up horse grazing areas so mixes into a larger plan.)

NO water coming in from the street. I'm NOT surprised or even annoyed. Part of my job is to check what is working and what is not.

How was YOUR day> :)
