Thanks so much Olly. Great job. Wife and I are busy and have little time to find the window to post. I'll be down for I don't know how long so please carry on.

I've NEVER considered this a "personal thread" and have always invited anyone and everyone to join in. I see that WE have just about 100 views per day. That's gratifying and I'm glad that WE have something of interest.

But it is everyone that could contribute and be a part of this thread. Being one or two people in one area does not tell the whole weather situation in the D.R.

Thanks Olly.

Olly? Thanks for helping but you post for you in your on name as part "of the team". :)

Davetuna,
It rained last evening with some thunder. About 0.4" of rain here between Sosua and Cabarete.
Today on the north coast there is a light breeze, some high cloud and scattered lower level cloud. Waves were about 3-4 ft from NNE this morning. Not much chance of rain but a T-storm this evening is possible.

Well we had the T-storm last night but very little rain from it - only 0.2 inches here on the north coast between Sosua and Cabarete. House shaking thunder though!

Barahona 91F

On the north coast this morning - Some scattered showers offshore to the north but calm , about 1 to 2 ft swell on the sea. Almost clear sky overland and a sunney day. There is a likelyhood of t-storm and rain late in the evening and early tomorrow morning. Another great day for the beach !!

On the north coast this morning - some very scattered high cloud, waves 1 to 2 ft and very clear water. Its going to be about 90 F max today with a light breeze. Possibly a T-storm about 7 - 9 pm tonight.
Yesterdays high for Puerto Plata was 90 F so cooler than of late but a little warmer than average according to Wunderground!

Last nights T-storm was fantastic - tremedus lightning and about 2.3 inches of rain here between Cabarete and Sosua on the north coast.

Last night in Puerto Plata we had a "lights and sounds" show for about 2.5 hrs.... From around 8pm to 10h30pm, the sky was filled with lightning and thunder... That was awesone... Not much rain though.

Thunder and lightning a bit close to home here olly.........we have been hit twice in the last few weeks, and the field was hit and set on fire for a minute until the rain put it out.

makes me nervous, although i do sit outside to watch it.......

Dave, Charlise, The next T-storm is just beggining to form in the Ciboa valley and will come this way tonight. It was quite a show yesterday night. Dave if you are getting strikes nearby I hope you take precautions with your electrical stuff! I expect a slightly lesser show tonight!

Hi guys and good evening. We arrived home last evening and as you all have said..... What a light and noise show. FOUR dogs on our bed. I could still see lightening out over the Atlantic at 5 AM when I got up. Didn't see much rain, about .80 of an inch recorded in 24 hours.

And yes, our dogs heard the thunder right on que as you have said and all inside. They are really pushing it. A few sprinkles of rain as I write and I don't hear any thunder. NO breeze and the air feels heavy with humidity, 80.1 F. Cloudy. Seas flat.

BUT looking at the satellite says that much of the north is not in the clear for awhile. I don't see any bright pink with white inside that indicates heavier activity.

I'm playing catch up around my place so will not take the time to look at other stations to try to gain info. The BEST information comes from those all around the Dominican Republic.

Have a good evening and keep your reports coming in. :)

Ya. It tends to get dark at the end of the day. :) But you are correct as I'm looking over at where you are in POP and I see clouds over your area but the lights of the city are bright. NOT a breath of air. Seas are like a pond. I don't hear any thunder but dunder dog won't go out so...... that means nothing since she is in and her thunder alert does not work to well when she is already inside. :(

The Sat image still has most of the D.R. under clouds but I don't see any heavy weather at this time though that can change in 5 minutes. Most stations report NO or very little breeze.

Just feels hot and humid up here and have the feeling that something will happen.......... Like going to bed with full fans on. :)

When will this HEAT END?! I was here last October and it won't this hot for this many consecutive days. I'm usually not a complainer, but it's starting to wear me down, especially since the A/C at work stopped working last week.

That's why I moved back to NY from FL after only 2 years and why I only vacation in tropical islands.

The heat is for the birds!!!!!!!!! IMO

It is called "The Big Apple" not the swealtering apple.
