That's why I moved back to NY from FL after only 2 years and why I only vacation in tropical islands.

The heat is for the birds!!!!!!!!! IMO

It is called "The Big Apple" not the swealtering apple.

IMO. Upper New England could be just as hot and humid as it is here in the D.R. Difference was that I COULD almost afford to run LOTS of AC. :) I don't have to split and haul 5 cords of wood anymore and keep the fires going all day in the winter. We also had a small generator for the winter power gone times. Adjusting/acclimating takes some time. Come January my wife will be complaining that it is TOO cold in the mornings and wished that I'd put in the fireplace in the original design.

Talking with others, we don't remember our weather having such a long stretch of heat. But then talking about weather we tend to forget over time very quickly. lol.

HOT. Yes it has been. We are in a pattern that IS changing but very slowing. More clouds and rain moving in mostly in the afternoons. Most of our Island has clouds again this evening at the time that I post so expect some pop-up T-storms again. Rain? This Sat map changes with time.

I'm very OK right here. Have a good evening all. :)

OH? Big Apple? Will that be soon baked with a nice spice topping OR pouched under boiling water? Sorry... you guys have your weather too and we all deal with what we have. :)

Thanks cm. 76 was the reported LOW, that was the high for the low. ??? I'm not there so I just post what I can find and go to the Hi/Low section for the D.R. when doing these. I don't look at EVERY weather station for individual information.

Please give your observations about what your weather is at anytime. Much appreciated and more then welcome to join in.

:)

Thanks Olly and to your Team. I'm still behind but enjoyed seeing you and others join in.

My Dunder Dogs hear the thunder and right before they destroy a door I will let one or two in. (to late for saving the doors but what the heck.) The light show over the Atlantic went on all last night but far away and no rain.

As Olly has mentioned, the Atlantic ocean has been amazingly calm/flat for several days and I think going on for a few weeks.

Time to let Dunder Dog 1 and 2 in. Dang.

Good Morning! Distant light show over the Atlantic most of the night but no rain for me. 7 AM At my place: starting out with clouds and a warm 76.5 F. No breeze and the Atlantic remains flat.

Looking around the map shows mostly clear at this time but just about every station is reporting that it is a warm morning. Most forecasting temps in the high 80's to mid 90's with heat index at or over 100 F. Most also showing 80% to 90% chances for T-storms/rain.

It just does not look like a fun day. :(

Nice cooler morning. The light shows continue to our north in the distance. 74 F this morning, no rain for me in the last 24 hours. Mostly cloudy. Slight breeze. Atlantic ocean swells are up some out of the NNE.

Looking around we have about the same for most of the D.R. with lower temps and clouds. Forecast temps high's around 90 F with a lower heat index. Perhaps some relief from the heat has arrived.

Yesterday Country Highs

Have a good day here in the Dominican Republic.

I was reading about the Tropical Cyclone Phailin in the Bay of Bangal, India. So I took a look at this Cat. 4 monster.

Edit: Well that didn't work. You will have to scroll over if you want to see it. Or try this to get to the area and open the map. Maybe?

Good Morning. Thanks bob for joining in, it's nice to get real reports.

We too had some activity at my place at around 1:30 PM yesterday with high winds and dark clouds. Thinking that it was going to pour rain I advised our help to keep an eye on it and bring the horses in early if it developed. NADA.... ZIP..... ZERO. An hour later we were back to partly cloudy.

Mostly cloudy over me this morning. Atlantic ocean is calm.

The map has the south with clouds again this morning with 90% chance of more rain with possible heavy T-storms moving into the Santo Domingo areas. 80% chance of rain in Santiago and 50% for POP.

Now that I've written this, keep in mind that our local and micro-climates don't look at weather stations. :)

Have a good day.

LOL Olly. Ya..... it's fricken hot. I was going to turn on Edenorte for an hour of AC.... but they off. :( I was just looking around to see what is going on. HOT about sums it up. I saw my temp at 95 F today and said NO WAY but I have a fan on hi 4 feet away and have not moved all day.

Current observations from here in Playa Chiquita to add to Olly. Overcast with very light rain that is not measureable. Lot's of thunder all around mainly to my west and it appears that POP is getting some. Breeze at 4.5 mph out of the S.W., very unusual to have wind from there. Atlantic is calm.

Rather then list all sorts of stuff that I can not really verify, I'll give you this station in Santo Domingo. Scroll down to find the Hi's and Low's today and click on the maps for real time information.

Yes Olly. POP and me agree that WE win the heat prize today and it's your fault for bringing it up. :)

Thanks all and have a safe evening.

North coast between Sosua and Cabarete,

Nice rollers (waves) coming in from the north east about 4-5 ft high so a good surfing morning. Much high cloud but very light breeze.
High for yesterday was 95 F at POP which is about 6F above average for the time of year.

Only about 0.1 inches of rain last night here but quite a light show!
