Ringo,
Just looked at your weather station . Rainfall comparisons are interesting : 3rd 0.38 " Here 0.6 " 4th 0.01" Here 1.3" . We take readings at about 8:00 am so these represent overnight figures. Total for September so far here is 1.9" versas 3.48 " for your location.

Rainfall is very local I must admit.

Yes it is Olly. Our little micro climates do give us a challenge. lol.

WEATHER UPDATE/ADVISORY. The system in the Caribbean to our S.E. has been classified as a Tropical Depression 7 and the models have it headed toward the D.R.

TD Seven : 5 Day Forecast Map | Weather Underground

The weather stations are all over the place concerning the rain forecast. I'd expect that we gonna get wet.

Two systems next to each other. Reading in the P.R. are all over the place.

Best thing to do is? Expect the worse with very heavy rain and areas flooding. So stock up a little tonight or first thing in the morning. OK? :)

Tune into MikeF for additional information also.

From the weather expert on Wunderground. (She sounds about a confused as I am. lol)

Next, another area of low pressure just east of the Lesser Antilles will continue west-northwestward on Wednesday becoming positioned near Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. Deep tropical moisture will accompany this system across the Lesser Antilles and into Puerto Rico, supporting a large area of showers and thunderstorms over the isles. This system has a low chance, 20 percent, of becoming a tropical cyclone by Wednesday, and a medium chance, 50 percent of becoming a tropical cyclone by Saturday. Regardless of development, residents and visitors across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands should closely monitor the progress of this system as it will have the potential to produce very heavy rainfall and gusty winds. A Flash Flood Watch may be issued for the local islands on Wednesday.

Tropical Storm Gabrielle

Soggy morning to you! Looks like around .72" in the last 24 hours at my place in Playa Chiquita and we expect much more in the next day or two.
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic Weather Forecast from Weather Underground

Most weather stations in the south are showing a decreasing chance of rain. East and N.E. have increased chances of rain.

Tropical Depression Gabrielle

Downgraded.

TD Gabrielle : 5 Day Forecast Map | Weather Underground

A combination of satellite...San Juan Doppler radar...rawinsonde...
and aircraft data indicates that Gabrielle has become very
disorganized. The low-level center...which is poorly defined...is
located south of the Mona Passage about 130 N mi from the mid-level
center that is located between Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
This structure may be due to some westerly vertical wind shear...
although the shear appears to be too light to have such a drastic
effect on the cyclone. None of the data currently suggest tropical
storm force winds are occurring...so Gabrielle is downgraded to a
30-kt tropical depression.

Convection continues near the mid-level center...so there is still a
chance of the low-level center reforming in that area. If that
does not occur...Gabrielle is expected to weaken as it interacts
with the terrain of the Dominican Republic and encounters
increasing westerly shear. The revised intensity forecast now
calls for the cyclone to degenerate to a remnant low pressure area
in 24 hours and to dissipate completely thereafter.

The initial motion is an uncertain 305/8. Low-level ridging north
and northeast of Gabrielle should allow this general motion to
continue until the cyclone dissipates. If the system survives
longer than currently forecast...the dynamical models suggest it
will turn northward in response to a developing deep-layer trough
over the western Atlantic.

A heavy rain threat continues over Puerto Rico and the Virgin
Islands.

Good Morning. I had expected to have several pop-up's yesterday; 20 minutes of rain out of no where then gone and expected that to happen all day and into the night. Nothing. Not a drop.

Looks like the same today as yesterday with some areas showing a lesser chance of rain in the same areas as yesterday. Again, it appears that they will be the pop-up kind. Seas flat here this AM.

Good morning. Slightly cloudy and seas are calm this AM. Looks like it will remain HOT in the south, 90's with a feels like 104 in some areas. 80% chance of pop-up thunderstorms in the south. Temps lower in the north with lesser chances of pop-ups.

Have a good day.

www.
What was the maximum temperature registered for Saturday and today, Sunday 15 Sept in Santo Domingo? Especially since reading that one of the Chilean players in the Davis Cup abandoned because of the intense heat.

You can see this with a little bit of looking on the site. Today's high in S.D. was recorded at 88 F but that is NOT including the heat index of "what it feels like".

Here is the S.D. station site that I like. You can click on the "map" and go anywhere in the World to view other weather conditions, such as this is winter in Chile.

IMO, this was a very nice cool day for us. Yesterday was a "killer" and you can look up the records for heat and heat index for yesterday/the week.

I hope that I've helped. IF not, please let me know what else I can guide you to. :)
