Ugh - It would be OK if the food wer ea decent price but it isn't. Now, I may not return to eat there myself

I had never heard of the boycott of Gringo patronized/run Casitas by well to do Dominicans, but then I am not on the Malecon all that often. That is interesting. I know for sure that almost all Dominicans hate the reputation of Sosua. I hear that all the time.
Agreed as Sosua is now and is hated by Dominicans. It also keeps well do to Dominicans from investing in things like golf courses, water parks, etc because of the bad reputation. A chicken and egg problem if you can get my point. Clean it up and development is not assured, but at least it opens up possibilities. Those amenities exist and were developed by locals in other areas of the island. Another thought, when I arrived in the DR, most of what is in Punta Cana now did not exist.

So, let's say you had money, and there was no reputation to Sosua, you would pour all kinds of money into it? I highly doubt it... Why would you? Why wouldn't you plunk down your money in a place thats already got a steady draw of people and that Travel Agents already push people to go to, lets use Punta Cana as an example.
There is definitely a chicken and egg, but its the fact that even if Sosua had no reputation, there is no reason to drop money there, let's even skip Punta Cana. Cabarete has the whole kite surfing thing, and is already well established to those that are into that scene, why not there? There are a myriad of candidates that better suit investment opportunity.
One need not go far into the internet to see that if you were an investor looking to drop $ in the Tourist game, would you really want to put it in a sleepy town where there is nothing, I find it highly doubtful someone wants to be the next Bugsy Siegel and try to create a Supercentre of attraction out of nothing.

She is entitled to have a minority opinion, no question about it. NALS could even set up a poll, but unfortunately not that many Dominicans are on DR1.
