Should I get into a serious relationship?

I wrote my post with a slight tinge of sarcasm to get your attention. Being young and in your 20's does not absolve you from getting scammed.
It is not only the stereotypical older gringo who gets burned, its' anyone who truly believes they are dating someone different when they are not.
Now you've been told several times by several people that the chances are slim to none, but if you met her in Sosua and she immediately took you to meet her family then you are being worked over by a pro who has a long list of clients of which you are just one.
This is my guesstimation because anything is possible-but it would be highly unlikely.
Forgive us for not wanting to rehash any old war stories. Just do some research in the Mars/Venus section and you'll have enough to go on.
So the Op meets a woman on his vacation, sleeps with her and now he wants to get married? This shows that some people are really not cut out for this type of adventure vacations.
Why not have more vacations and meet more women like her? what is wrong with that? why is it that guys want to spend the rest of their lives with the first woman who sleeps with them?

here is an example of a beauty in bogota colombia. She manages a huge restaurant in bogota and lives well. She is educated and very elegant. i wonder what you would have done if you had met her? i bet you would have given your wallet and your car keys to her on first date.
I met her, had a wonderful time like you did with your girl and when I was on the plane and returning to atlanta, she was already erased out of my mind. Why? because the world is full of beautiful girls like her, i do not need to settle for the first one or the 10th one I meet on any of my vacations.

You should get serious only with a girl that has more money then you and no interest of going out of DR, then you know that she is really interested in you and not in getting out of "bad DR" into "hell somewhere else" (- she does not know that yet). Unfortunately girl with that qualities will not hang around places where tourists hang out, since she probably moves in very different circles. Unfortunately young travelers fall into the honey trap very often (and the old ones do not care much, after all they are getting something they would not be able to get back home for the same price). My advice is enjoy while you can (just make sure you play responsibly) and then forget it as soon as you get on that plane, you think that it is not fair? I think it is, two can play the game. I only wish I was in the 20ties again and could play the game again; selfish, arrogant, chauvinistic, but true.

Let us suppose for a moment that the chica you have is playing you and that you make some inquiries that prove that.
You'd be thinking,
It is quite possible, even likely that she does genuinely like, maybe love you.
That doesn't mean that she perceives you as the man of her dreams to whom she wants to commit the rest of her life.
Think about it.
If this chica is fairly hot, why would she have to resort to scamming ugly idiots?
If she has some stuff going for her, she can pick and choose.
And why wouldn't she?
Think about it with your big head now.
Here's a chica who recognizes her assets, who would like to live a wealthier life.
Even if her ultimate dream includes a romantic prince charming monogamous relationship, in the meantime, she plays the market, JUST LIKE MEN DO !!!
Are you seeing it now?
We're not saying she's rotten to the core, nor are we saying that she's a career pro.
We're simply saying that you are one of many.
What's so difficult to believe about that?
Did you know that it is not in our nature to be monogamous?
The chica's just out there, doing what comes natural, having a good time, enjoying herself, trying to survive, feeling good that she can bring some money home to mama, loving you for your generosity, appreciating your gifts, loving the sex, (DR women, unlike US women, actually enjoy sex).

The call was made by a buddy of mine overseas. I gave him two of her friends names (these 2 DR girls party mucho w/ gringos) and the number where she was working. The line on the call was that my buddy had met her two years ago with the other girls and was staying again at a well known resort/casino. He wanted to see her in two weeks for a weekend, beach,casino,shopping, etc.. She recalled his visit,took the bait and I received a call after. She said to me that she had to visit her grandmother (very sick) in an away city on the very same weekend. Several days before the pre arranged visit my buddy called her again and said he had to cancel the entire trip. With no resort, etc.. in her head, and after telling me countless times during this period about her need to go to see grandmother, she told me she didn't have the funds for metro/taxi. etc.... Could I please help with $$$$$. As it turned out I owed her a few pesos for a purchase her friend made for me overseas, so off for good she went! (to this day she has no clue on what I did).
You may ask yourselve why I played it out during the two weeks , well it became a game for me, one that I knew had no winners.....
For what it's worth, she has a nice professional job, works very hard, no money at the end of the month, late 20's, still lives w/ mommy, and has all the right stuff a man can want,

Except when the hotel clerk called upstairs to announce her, my friend was the one that came downstairs.
When the chica went to the hotel she was expecting to meet they guy she spoke to over the phone.
When she saw him, all he asked her was "So, hows' your grandmother? She must be doing better if she's here in Punta Cana on vacation!!!"
She then told my friend over the phone that she had to go to the campo to visit her sick grandmother and needed money to get there. So he WUs the cash and she was off for her weekend of fun in the sun.

I have recommended calls like this for awhile on this board. This is the first time someone actually did it and found put quickly the truth.
Of course all the other recommendations were to females that did not really want to know the truth about their price catch. Maybe now a few of them will do this and save a lot of future aggravation.

The only real sad part of this story, her grandmother did have a stroke the week after this happened....

I might be a little drunk just leaving Sosua beach and all but where does it say he met her in California? He said in opening post he met her a few days into his vacation. I'm sorry if i'm about to be a little harsh but here are the facts of life!!! You met her on vacation probably at a bar or the beach (She was hunting you) not the other way around. My friend just left today and his wife of 3 years gave me her phone number???? Why??? I'm a Brad Pitt lookalike??? No!!!!, but I am here every month and can offer her a good time. She most definately has a dominican boyfriend or boyfriends and/or a German,Canadian,American etc... on the side thinking the same as you. Grow up and think with the big head and enjoy your trips to DR or be abused by some uncaring woman who will most likely be wispering sweet nothings in your ear over the phone while I'm showering up.

You are both wrong. If you have lived her long enough you know they don't "give a rat's ass about you" and we don't think these chicas should be grateful to date a foreigner. I wasn't talking about guys who live in the DR. I'm talking about guys who go on vacation and come back with their noses wide open and start talking about that bullcrap love affair they think they're in.
The guys who immediately start planning vacations to the DR exclusively just to be with this one chica.
*The guys who I see at the corner deli at midnight on a Tuesday in the rain buying international calling cards because the one they were using just ran out of minutes.
So they run outside in their pajamas to buy another card because they don't want the conversation to end.
And they have to get up at 5 am to go to work but they don't care because for the first time maybe ever they feel alive and are happy that this woman loves them.
Those are the type of cats I'm talking about, because those are the ones I see. And you can't tell them nothin' 'cause they're not trying to hear it.
