What amazes me is that the people that have come to Sosua in the last few years have NO idea what we had here.
We had FAMILIES with those children. Locals with 3 generations out every evening. We had family tourist with children.
Sosua didn't pop up in 1940 saying... I'm a sex town. For decades and generations Sosua was a hard working town with honor.
The last 4 or 5 years does not define Sosua nor do those that keep saying; "if you don't like it leave." BULL Syte.
I think that a compromise is in order.
Sosua Bay Hotel open again?
Marina being installed?
River cleaned up?
All the places going to the beach rented?
Is Sands in Porto Chiquita up and running?
El Terbron (sp) all fixed up?
New Hospital near the airport?
The list is very long with no action.
Some wish to wage a war by supporting their NEW way of life without understanding that others HAD a comfortable life and living BEFORE you arrived. But I seldom see any posts recognizing that .... others live here also.
We don't wish to divert your daily routine of a beer at 10 AM and picking out your new friend.
Here we go again.
Sosua is far from being a sex town. If it is it's pretty pathetic compared to many others.
A little bit has a few bars and clubs, probably less than many other towns I can think of which are not considered sex towns so let's get a bit of perspective before we throw the baby out with the bath water,
We are discussing the wisdom of the move forcing bar owners to comply, at their own expense again, with what seems to be a fairly unintelligent , unhelpful and questionable ruling.
Your wish list is great,
I'll add some.
Pedestrianize PC once and for all and allow tables outside, Europe style.Delivery permits only during the day.
Convert wasteland from dumps to parking,
Curb the hideous menace of the motoconchos.
Train the police to help not hinder.
Form a real chamber of commerce where all business owners can participate.
Sort out the lights and power.
Drop the airport taxes.
Teach taxi drivers a little courtesy.
Make the beach alive in the evenings, Cabarete style, and sort out the toilets.
There are lots more I'm sure.I'm not convinced that the road paint is a game changer.
The past is a different country. We don't live there.
