Why would you even chance it. You are home keeping Dominicans safe, let's keep it that way!

If you are a legal resident home may be here. Most likely it is. Should be possible to get in similar to a citizen. That’s what was understood until now. If it’s expired though I would not risk it as you may be considered a tourist again.

the President just requested an additional 25 days of the State of Emergency to be extended.
I would guess that Congress will approve it for now for just 14 more days, til the end of the month May, to be evaluated then again according to the situation and on observation how the now to come gradual opening of some economy sectors will roll out.

What about those of us whose residency/cedula has expired during the shutdown ? No way to renew them yet.
My wife had this issue

she entered as a tourist and renewed........

not really a problem

but
DO NOT SHOW THEM YOUR EXPIRED CEDULA
They will confiscate it... and you need to file a police report for the lost/stolen card

Believe it or not, you'll see it again at your renewal....
in your file at DGM..... it goes home

Well.... with the case in question
The Cdn airport called the DR to ask and was given the go-ahead

But on arrival.... denied

I have been asked more than once - on a 1 way ticket- to prove myself
The cedula did it

These flights are NOT open to the public

The question was directed (and answered) regarding an expired cedula

No way Jose you enter on an expired cedula.... they confiscate it

try flying on an expired passport

thats 2 different things.
a non DR Citizen and Non DR Resident(which of course requires up to date cedula/residencia as proof) will Not Enter the DR, should not be allowed to board any flight to the DR in the first place.
a legal DR Resident the same as DR Citizens, can take available flights and are of course allowed to enter the DR, under the actual restrictions, which is a medical check up on arrival followed by a 14 days quarantine.
a expired residency/cedula means that person is Not a legal resident, so entry to DR will of course be denied, boarding at the departure airport should already be denied.

Right Mike
But it happens in this case, some police officer decided they weren't entering

Let me ask the person in question about the situation

Actually- it's in the post

I wish it was that way. They at first told friends of mine that are permanent residents they could fly back last month. The call was made from the airport in Canada. They got on the plane, flew into Punta Cana, but had a police waiting at the plane door to keep them in plane and they had to return back to Canada. Only citizens were allowed to enter

I didn’t mean on an expired cedula. Of course not. I mean as a legal resident with a valid cedula you should be able to get in.

Read the post.....

I agree - should be able to enter.... these people = No!!

hard to fathom

This is quickly spinning into another "expulsion on day 31 of a tourist card/not admitted for prior overstay" yarn.
Common denominators....new poster + unverifiable information going against the standard operating procedure + ww
With that, I ask the following:
When is the Policia Nacional stationed at the airports for more than moving cars along the pick up/drop off lanes?
Perhaps the OP meant immigration officials? If so, this would then fall on the shoulders of the traveler in question and the airline.

Your guess is as good as anyone’s. Should know this weekend. I was suppose to fly back May 8 on AA but when the DR extended the quarantine the airlines cancelled the flights. So hopefully they will at least let the residents come back. I know they need our money spent there
I heard there’s to be some kind of announcement on the 17th of May.
