Excellent CC

It IS actually time for someone to say, WTF.

I bought a very good extension cable with ground so everyone would be more safe using electrical devices around water (typically the CLORO flood that is used to clean floor).

Well , one, no one seems to think they can get electrocuted (because they never have been).

But in two months I see it has been used to hang clothes to dry.

Un-salvageable. Now WTF.

There are no open cans in the Fridge either here in Canada or in the DR. Tupperware type containers are used for all left over food, including cutup vegetables. Things are wrapped in saran wrap....etc. I find that because both my wife and mother-in-law are very frugal nothing gets wasted and they actually save me money.
Exactly.

Tupperware is like the family diamonds at Casa CB. Mi esposa won't throw anything away. We always have a "leftover night."

It's part of the frugal culture.

One of the reasons this thread has been left open and so many posts accepted-both pro and con--is that Cris has not LIED....Has he painted with a very wide brush? Yes. But medieval philosophers used deductive reasoning to go from the general to the particular (I see so many Dominicans opening cans with knives. You are Dominican. Therefore, you open cans with knives!) Therefroe Crisssss can't be too far off base.

Then along came Francis Bacon and introduced inductive reasoning: From the particular to the general (You are a Dominican and you used a knife to open a can. All Dominicans open cans with knives...)

I happen to live in a very "Dominicanized" household (I have been there you guys, and done that). My fridge is a mixture of proper storage and no-so-proper storage...the open can of "salsa" is a running joke..The number of my clothes with holes(???@#$%*&^) and "cloro" marks is way beyond counting. A strainer in the kitchen sink>? Only when I tell "them" =>You clog it, you pay for it! And then not all the time...

Do these things affect the quality of my life? Apart from the momentary "pique", as long as Walmart, Target, The GAp, and Old Navy keep making affordable (ie: cheap) clothes that I can wear comfortably, the heck with it. (It's been an easy 50 years since my time of custom-made Hong Kong suits and my last Brooks Brothers/Barneys bit of clothes was probably given a way to some hurricane victim...)

And, if there are some of out Dominican posters that are truly offended, I for one am sorry, because I'll bet that their fridge is a lot like mine, and CCCC's ...but they do not want to go and check...

Okay, maybe he was not nice and used Dum instead of Dom...that was not nice, I agree....but apart from that???? And it got you all to read the post!

Bob, it is logical for their decibels to go up since you are talking on the phone and they can't hear themselves talk. Lol

Haha you should hear my wife when she's on Skype. She's got the earphones on and just bellowing away. Have to speak up to get the voice through the computer. LOL.

You make the rules in your house.
That is what I am saying. <b>It sounds like many of these guys need a
DOMINICAN WHISPERER.</b>

Well, guys, here is my first tip, "stop wearing the skirts in the household" You
don't allow that BS if you were an all american family so why should it be any
different.

It is also good to communicate your feelings. Have weekly family meetings and
talk about the good things and the bad things that happened during the week
and how can the bad things can be improved by setting goals.

Openly, have you and everyone else go around the table and talk about theirs
and yours, pet peeves. There could be a couple of things that you do on a regular
basis that they may not like. For example not taking your shoes off after they
just mopped the floor, or throwing your clothes just anywhere after they just
finished picking up, not just smoking in the house but also not ashing your cigarettes
properly in the ashtray and cleaning it.

Recognize each others' faults and have individual and family goals to make weekly
improvements.

That is why there is so much crimes and disrespect going on in the world, because
parents or main providers don't have a well structured plan to raise a family.

Raising a family is not just about providing for them, but also teaching them
about ethics, family values and how to be civil.

They are under your roof and if they don't want to comply with your rules
have them pay the consequence.

I don't know the poster... and for the most part figured it was a 'rant' of sorts. Going thru the post to the end, it kinda made my eyes go a little bit bulbus & think "Ouch" b/c I KNEW there would be some ppl who find it offensive. True or not, I was under the impression that posts being made that are considered offensive had to be altered or deleted... but I guess, from what I've read, it depends on how well the poster is 'known'.

Do you think that instead of a big long winded debate back and forth as to whether this post is offensive or just 'true', with explanations why it hasn't been closed or deleted, to just put a "Warning" or "heading" at the beginning of the post letting readers KNOW it's a 'rant'?? "Please don't read if easily offended" for example?? They do this on a different forum I am a member of & it's pretty helpful to those who DON'T find the humour in things & DO get offended easily.

Just a suggestion.

Mr DR, If You Can Get Dominicans To Follow The "RULES" In Your House,.....

Have you ever thought about becoming a "Cat Herder"???? ;)
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

"ZAP" the First Step in "Change",is to recognize that there is a "Problem"!
Not saying that you don't want to hear about the "Problem"!
THAT is what Dominicans do! (See,I said "DO"minicans)
I will never say the "DU" word again!
Far be it for me to offend anyone! Actually,I defer to a more "STABLE" mind,"HB"!
If I say that Dominican women should learn to "Close Their Legs!"That may offend some people, but if fewer young, uneducated,"dominicanas",with no job,no,stable future, and NO WAY to provide, care for,or educate a child,"CLOSED THEIR LEGS" would every Dominican be better off???
"Birth Control 101" should start in pre-school here!

Well, last night I was convinced CC was the guy with the sugar coated cock, as everyone who has been a member longer than 5 years seemed to offering a chupa, something I hadn't witnessed among the guys on here. Very confused as to what was going on, strange.
In the light of day it is obvious some of you guys are more familiar with each other than many are aware, and have been having delinquents nights for many years, this is understood now.
I wasn't being a hater in my confusion, just stumped at the amount of attention being given to a guy reeling off the old pet peeves we have all been through ( I presume) at some point, but nothing new, nothing breaking any news, all things that are so run if the mill boring topics that get closed down on a normal given day, or disappear as they are so uninteresting, this time getting a rise and commanding lots of attention which was different to lots of us. Couldn't understand the playground mentality, like all the boys crowding around the best school footballer, everyone wanting to be his best mate, very amusing.
Anyway, all has been explained, I am sure it is clear to most now that CC has lots of long term friends and it seems he really isn't the salty old gut he comes across as in his posts, you can't expect people to know this who don't know him.

This too was my only 'objection' to the OP but I hoped and believed it was meant in good humour rather than bad taste..... it would seem, in light of Chris' latest comments that that was indeed the case.

No doubt, with his idea of new get-togethers in different locations he will make himself available to attend each one??

I,m not sure WHERE :surprised, but I LIKE IT!
I MUST take exception with those of you who THINK,that you have a "SOLUTION" to your Dominican "Problem"!
There is NO SOLUTION!
If you think that leaving for the movies,in time to actually see the whole movie,is the answer, you will just be going to the movies alone all the time.
I tried saying we are leaving at 7 pm(Even Tho The Movie Started a 8:30.)
I would go start the car, blow the horn, leave and drive around the block,NOTHING WILL WORK! I gave up about 15 years ago!
YES! on using dish soap like WATER! You can mix it with 1/2 water so they use "a little" less. But it is better to only buy the "Paste" kind of dish cleaner. It is "harder for them to waste, but they like to put water in the container to make the paste into a slurry,so they can waste that!
How about "CLORO"???? Man can they go through THAT,only surpassed by "ACE"(Dominican for laundry Detergent)I tried showing them, giving them a Measuring cup, rationing, yelling, rationalizing, setting LIMITS(NOT HERE!) Again, nothing works. Why do most of my clothes have bleach marks on them,)"No es mi culpa,No Fui Yo!) I had one maid I called,"La Reina Del Cloro",for obvious reasons. When she left,AFTER getting her Christmas Bonus,of course,I fount lots more of my shirts and pants, with HUGE cloro spots, hidden under her mattress!
There are three kinds of Expats,
1.Those who have been here long enough to KNOW Dominican Truisms
2.Those who will SOMEDAY have been here long enough to know Dominican truisms.
3.Those of you who can stay here forever, and will NEVER 'either understand Dominican truisms,or are just to "PC" to admit that you know.
So "SPIN,SPIN,SPIN"You will not convince me that Dominicans are God's "GIFT" to humanity!
To those who ask:"If you hate Dominicans SO MUCH,why don't you just leave and "Go Home?""""
THIS,is my HOME!!!!(Can YOU Say THAT?)
"Hell!" my kids are Dominicans, and I love THEM!!
"With "PEACE & LOVE" TO ALL! :cheeky::cheeky::cheeky::cheeky::cheeky::cheeky:Well,ALMOST ALL!
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Of course you are not accused of lying but I guess I am the lucky exception then... some things you describe do happen (opening more than one can of salsa for instance) but most things you describe don't happen in my household...

It is ironic you say about Dominican woman closing their legs, well true it may be and if they did I am sure we would automatically lose a huge amount of expat men who live in the country to exploit this exact 'problem' ( if you wanna call it a problem). I call it different values, sex is cheap but only in terms of it being so valuable to most.

These issues were once issues, knives, opened bottles, washing etc etc etc, but damn, if my lass hadn't stopped using a knife after I bought several can openers, stopped using plastic bags like string, from securing cupboard doors to keep our child out, to tying our goats legs up to stop them running away. Using shampoo when we ran out of washing up liquid and tying her pantys onto the ceiling fan to dry quicker. Folding my clothes and storing inside out, unironed so we need to iron as we go, buying easy learning books in English for our daughter and then giving them to her sister to use, giving our frozen meat away whenever her mother visited. Putting oil down the sink, trying to drain chips on aluminium foil etc etc etc. If I hadn't managed to change all this sh1t and install some sanity to the household in quick time I'd had Dmifted defeat booted her out and moved on. If your woman is still doing all these stupidities after a long term relationship you are doing something wrong.

Anastazio,I MUST TAKE ONE EXCEPTION!!!

I seriously doubt that "Expats" are responsible for the 10s of thousands of babies born without the fathers being present to support those babies!
Sadly, they all want their customers to use "protection" these days!:ermm:
Most prostituttes DONT get pregnant! It's not good for business!
(And I KNOW Prostitutes!!!!0
The VAST majority of Dominican woman who give birth, don't give birth to "Foreign" men's kids.
All those "Cabanas" that you see in all parts of this country are used by,and were built for,DOMINICANS, NOT foreigners.
Other than THAT,congratulations on changing the living habits of the Dominicans in your house.:cheeky:
