The problem there is, not everybody has a conscience that would bother them. The world is full of sociopaths,
Any man that requests a 5'2 120 lb young lady to accompany him to the beach and abandons her, loses his freedom card as far as I am concerned. "OH I was drunk and don't remember", not good enough!

Unfortunately, that's for the court to decide. Even if he is released for lack of evidence in a criminal trial, he still could be subject to civil charges.

From what I've read, and the reported timelines and details change more than Riibe's story, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the search operation didn't start until two days later. Littoral currents in that area move west-north-west at 1mph-2mph. Two days later, the body could have easily been 50 to 100 miles away. That is a vast expanse of ocean to try and spot a floating body - especially in seas that were reported to be rough. At this point in time, the chances of finding her are a less than slim.
Factor in wave action, wind direction and your right. If. she drowned her body could be off the coast subject to wind, wave and current conditions. We actually have computer trajectory models to locate the start point and end point of oil spills, drifting disabled vessels, even floating shipping containers lost overboard during storms. We have hindcast trajectory models to determine where an aircraft in trouble started dumping their fuel and where they sank.

I doubt any of this technology was used to locate her body. I’m not as confident as Windy that’s her body will never be found. Drowned bodies have a way of turning up on the shorelines when you least expect it and in areas far removed from the accident site.

There seems to be an issue with members expressing their opinions now. There's nothing unfortunate about another man's opinion. Unless I'm reading this incorrectly

Sometimes I feel these compulsions to make wise cracks, but I continue to be impressed with your experiences and contributions. Always even keeled as well!

I ended up putting one in a wheel chair while trying to stick him in the dirt, early 2000's. Never lost a minutes sleep over it either. I think I actually slept better afterwards.

When my good friend up in Cabarete drown in Nov 2021 his body washed up on the beach about 48 hours later. He was so badly decomposed due to the heat and saltwalter that initially they were unable to identify him.

If this young women was pulled into the ocean I do not believe this missing person's case will ever be solved.
I anticipate this thread eventually being closed without conclusion.
I agree if no body is found but that remains to be seen. I have no doubt the PN, the resort owners and some people in DR tourism would prefer this outcome. They want this out of sight and out of mind. This has become an international media nightmare for them.

The wives of the fishermen in Ireland knit sweaters that serve two purposes. To keep them warm and to identify their bodies if the get lost overboard and wash up on the coastline. Each fishing community has its own sweater knitting pattern.

Now reflecting on the act of vomiting, the body is ridding itself of the alcohol, leading to a renewed mental clarity and physical coordination. Vomiting can give one a "second wind"

And Madame DeFarge knitted in the spirit of vengeance and impending doom

Thanks Hijo. Unfortunately as a first responder I have first hand experience with ship sinkings and air craft crashes. I still have some ugly memories in the back of my head. PTSD counselling helped but some things never go away. Part of the reason I liked the solitude and quietness of remote DR beaches.

Confirmed by historical records of Roman life. They had vomitoriums where they would vomit and return to the feast with room for more food and wine. I’ve seen a few guests at the AI buffets who could have used them.

Can you provide a link? As far as the time stamp, maybe a "technical wizard" set up their system incorrectly...certainly seems impossible for that time to be accurate, if for no other reason the young lady would not have gone back without her phone. I'd be curious if the other friends are on the video around the same time...that would help show the inaccuracy too. As for the "second wind" EHM mentions in #709, my experiences when younger and stupider were certainly not the same :)

Also FWIW, here's the video of both of them in the bar at the resort puking their guts out before they went to the beach:

Shouldn't bars be held responsible for the safety and well being of their guests?

JD. In North America laws are in place to make bar owners and staff responsible for their patrons. I’m not aware of any such laws in the DR. If you can stagger to the AI bar they will serve you. They want repeat customers and the tips they get from sober and drunk patrons.

It’s the DR. Power interruptions. The only clocks in my house with the correct time are the battery operated ones.

Do you have a link to this video? Was that at 5:56am in Coco Bongo the same day all this happened? This sounds like huge news if true.

That would be huge given the recent stories out of there or is that from the resort itself?
