it was posted on instagram page of the girlfriend: Novia de ?scar Taveras colg? video antes del accidente donde murieron

i do not think it could have been from "moments before the crash". it is clearly daytime and nice weather. he crashed at 7 pm in a heavy rain. right now it gets dark at about 6.30 pm and that day it was raining in POP area from 5 pm or so.

Anyone think there is a little politics possible in police reports to not speak ill of a deceased sports hero. Just saying.

By saying that he was speeding is speaking ill just as well. They could've said that
he just lost control in bad weather and his car veered off the road and slammed
into the tree. Just saying.

come on, bronzie. that is a fairly small tree. it is ironic that he mowed down the cross which marks the spot where another guy apparently got killed.

Gorgon, whether a small or large tree, is irrelevant right now. That someone else slammed
into it proves just how dangerous and slippery that particular road is during a downpour.

True. And if others have died there, maybe the tree should be cut down.

Reminds me of years ago on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn, several bad accidents with a large tree in the center median on the eastbound lanes. Someone put a homemade sign on the tree: "Killer Tree". NYC finally sent a crew to remove the tree after deaths.

Isn't it amazing how sometimes it takes a few deaths for authorities to finally do something?

it's not like the tree is guilty, you know. thousands of people pass it every day without crashing.

Hi horsepower cars are not unstable or inherently dangerous. In fact the opposite is true. The weak link is the driver. When I bought my first really fast motorcycle I nearly crashed. You are just not used to the quickness of the vehicle. Being able to reach 100 mph in a city block takes some getting used to (New York City block). The problem develops when you try to stop and are traveling much faster than you realized. Super cars and super motorcycles have an adjustment period. Many motorcycle crashes are on borrowed or new bikes. In fact the motorcycle manufacturers got together and agreed to limit the horsepower of their production bikes. This happened as the bikes were capable of running near 200mph in stock configuration. The manufacturers realized that of they did not stop the horsepower race the governments would step in.

I, personally, hate that stretch of road. I don't know the tree or the driver of the car or the grief which his family must be feeling right now so best just to say RIP Oscar and girlfriend imho. He had, what would seem, a wonderful future life ahead but it was not to be. Some past experience of losing a young grown up son, albeit he was maybe partly to blame, prompts to make this statement.

This reminds me of a discussion about the canals in Amsterdam. As especially tourists go to Amsterdam to party, get wasted and some fall in the canals and drown some people came with the idea to fill up all the canals.. Who knows that Venice has the same problem..

True. But sometimes accidents tend to happen under worst conditions, such as during a downpour(roads are slippery) and it just so happens that the obstacle was in the way of the accident
so the wise thing to do is to remove it.

No 22 year old kid deserves to die or got what he deserved as many heartless people have said. We all have done foolish things like speeding and driving reckless when we were young so did we deserve to die? Maybe he deserved to die for acting like a cuero?

Nobody deserves to die but some people do things which increases the chance to die. For example somebody who just finished his Scuba Diving training and like to dive 100 meters.. Or militairy guys who leave for war or gang members..

Same for drunk driving and speeding etc.

Wiser is to use one of those ignition interlocl device. If you are drunk your car wont start. That will save lives!

these accidents were caused by the stupidity, not the tree. in it's absence the car would probably roll over and smash to pieces hitting the embankment all the same.

very true. he was going sideways when he wrecked, and there is a great likelihood that he would have ended up hitting an indentation in the surface and flipping a few times.

some years ago, a young guy came into some quick money, and walked into a Porsche dealership in Florida and drove out in a 911. he later smashed into a tree, and killed himself. his parents sued the dealer for selling him the car, knowing fully well that they should have ascertained his level of skill before selling him such a ferocious device. if i am not mistaken, they won the case.

this is exactly what happened here. this poor guy had probably never driven anything faster than a Corolla in his life, and simply did not have the requisite skills to operate this car in the most optimal of conditions, let alone in the wet.
