Is there a "Victorias Secret" store in the Capital?

They sell unmentionables that can salvage almost any "look" for Women.

Regardless of whatever else they've got on if the thong is funky and threadbare the facade will crumble.

the picture is not about her, the fashion style in the picture is in question. It just so happens, I found her picture which included all the chopa attire in one shot.
Now I like juliana, she is a nice girl and friendly. Too bad she suffers from lung cancer, I bet you had never guessed that by the way she sings. This is why she has dancers on stage with her so she doesn't have to jump and dance too much. She needs her energies and air to sing. I wish her good luck.

Give up, you just don't get the subtitles of barrio fashion.
The trends, fashion statements etc.
The nails, color of the eyelid shading and eyebrows are a huge giveaway.

You should get out more and actually experience the country you live in :)

The only reason you guys are calling the other one barrial is because of the cleavage being too big. But there's NO way you find a girl like that in Los Alcarrizos walking down from a guagua. Just no way.

But you will see her stepping out of a Civic or Montero on Venezuela with her boyfriend who's married with 2 kids. She's not going to walk out in the day time looking like this, but that's not to say she doesn't come from Alcarrizos.

You should know by now that if rich people show cleavage it's "daring" and "trendy"....and somehow it always done "tastefully" and "with style". In other words fashion trends are all about socioeconomics. Wealthy people have a monopoly on what is and what is not "barrio style" because they have the means and socioeconomic power to dictate the social norms in a society. They make the rules. Even in fashion.

In other words "classy" Dominicans could start dressing barrio style tomorrow and somehow be able to turn what was once "chopa trashiness" into a fashion trend.

I wasn't able to give you more reputation points. But this is god's honest truth. Probably the most astute viewpoint in this thread thus far.:glasses:

often times I feel you are just another tourist and not an actual dominican.
if you knew anything about classy women, you would know already that whatever the barrio women do, the classy women don't do. Simple as that. if the barrio women try to imitate girls from from well known families, you will see that no matter what they do, they will always give away by doing something cheap. Example: take an example of rich drug dealers in santiago. They have so much money that they have no idea how to spend it. I remember seeing them in $2,000 dollar Armani suits but they would screw it up with 5 buttons in front, 1000 dollars crocodile shoes and expensive chopo style think gold framed eye glasses and a huge knot on the tie, bigger than my fist. They will just screw it all up with their choperia. Same goes for the girls. If a girl is dating a drug dealer and has the money to buy top notch clothes, she will do something to her face or body to screw up the whole deal. Example: the chopas are enemies of their eye-brows. They just can't have natural eye-brows, they have to make them thin, paint them with pencils, make square endings in the front or simply shave it all and tattooo them on the face. They love to have long nails (fake) and print some designs on them. Yukkkkk. no matter what they do or how they dress and try to imitate classy women, somehow, nothing looks good on them. It just doesn't feel right. They are just not made up for this. They try too hard to impress people. In simple words, you just can't pass a donkey for a spanish race horse.

I was just listening to a lecture on how conservative clothing, and even wearing a head scarf, actually liberates women since this way they are not treated as “objects,” but actual human beings with goals, wishes and desires. I never thought that my clothing can actually affect someone’s opinion about me since that person does not know me at all. But, I guess, being conservative in what you wear can actually improve communication with others and their understanding of who we actually are.

Nobody is calling themselves and expert, but some of us socialize with Dominicans on a regular basis, frequent certain clubs, bars and entertainment places, so have an insight of what's what etc.

I comment on what I know and experience personally, as opposed to cut n pasting from other sources.

Pretty simple really...

man, you have a lot to learn. You think the barrio people know anything about the dominicans who are trend setters in this country? No, the barrio people have zero contact with the society of this country. This is why they are so different in everything and have little clue as to how the other dominicans function. if you fluctuate among the 2 groups, you would think the people in each group live in different countries. This is why some dominicans who are only fixated in barrio culture fail to understand what the city people are talking about. I have seen both side and believe me, there is nothing to gain from barrio culture. No dominican with good lifestyle wants to move into a barrio. Isn't this what we do in usa? We strive to get ahead in life, make friends who are educated and successful, live in nice residential areas and send our kids to better schools etc. So tell me why the rules change when you guys land here? why worry about the 75% barrio people when the 25% (cream of the crop) is right within your reach?

I agree with you on some level. However, I believe Fashion is dictated by a bunch of gay men :) and it is adopted or not by the Wealthy because yes they have the means to do so.

Also, what JR picture shows is Red Carpet Fashion. This is Hollywood, fantasy land, not real life for 99.9 % of the world.Angelina Jolie does not dress like that.

Speaking of expats being experts:
So who is more of an expert: a dominican who lives in his barrio and does the routine everyday and doesn't deviate from the same friends and family or an expat who talks to dominicans everyday from all walks of life, from a campo farmers, to car mechanics, to bankers and also to people who have streets named after them? Back pain doesn't spare anyone, whether you are a servant or a president of a country. I have been in touch with people from all walks of life for 12 yrs in this country. There is a mix of people coming to my office from every corner of this country, from villages that you people have not even heard of and then all of a sudden a general or a senator walks in too. I have to see people for 15 visits so this means, we get to spend a good bit of time together. I have had celebrities come to my office, famous baseball players, well known politicians, musicians, well known public figures, church bishops and then a good variety of campo people to people from low down dangerous barrios as well. So you guys are questioning the validity fo my views and my observation of dominicans? Please give me a break, I think I know more about all varieties of dominicans than an average domincian york wannabe.
Then the same dominicans tell me no matter what I do, I can never know as much as a dominican. hhahahaha. lets just go anywhere in this country and see who knows me more. I bet the dominican host would be totally unknown and I will have a bunch of dominicans shaking my hand and greeting me with my name. So please, leave this ghetto talk to yourself, I have seen it all and still seeing it everyday.

Thats correct, it was a celebrity event and I am sure angela doesn't dress up like that. I have videos of her in pakistan, dressed up in pakistani clothes with head covered and actually sitting on floor with the earthquake victims, talking to people and even helping carry food items along with brad to feed the victims. She is no show off-chopa, she is a trend setter and this picture of her is just for camera moments.
