Again , a mass deportation program makes sense against people who don't contribute to the development of DR. In other words, people who don`t have a jobs should be deported.
I live in a community where construction workers sleep on-site afraid of being deported .A different community that I visited today ,which is the largest community of houses in Sosua has the same issue .Haitians are sleeping on site in the house that they are building ! It should not happen . Those people are treated like animals and still have a smile when you talk to them . Fact that the government has not issue any working visa for many years is a critical problem . It should be addressed at the same time than making in place a mass deportation.

Can still make the working visa difficult : 1-must have a stable job for more than 1 or even 2 years 2-came initially with a valid visa/working permit but could not renew it ......

All the above is common sense , maybe my common sense .

Peace.

I never ever said any woman was lying. I said the story was a tall tale.
Nice try and walking it back.

It seems many people here can see through your facade. I only read your posts for the unintended comedic value even though many of your posts are not factual fair or amusing in any way.

No Maria, I think what he is trying to say is the story posted was not true, never happened, etc... Not that a woman lied.
Judgy people are going to judge, but that does not change the facts. I’d say you all have some nerve calling other members liars with no foundation to do so but at least now we know who we’re dealing with.

The story was fiction, similar to the "Saw" movie series. In reference to the girls that work at the gentleman's clubs, I have never seen bars on the windows of the clubs or chains on their ankles. On the contrary. I have seen them shopping in the city and at the supermarket. It does pain many that woman can make significant money with little talent and just being attractive, friendly and entertaining. I know it bothers you however not all can be chemical engineers, nurses and business owners.
Says one of the least credible and most hypocritical posters here LOL. Most of you posts support this view 🥱

Huh?
What the hell do George Bernard Shaw, May West, and Lao Tzu have to do with actions to control surge in Haitian migration?
I suggest you learn to control your emotions and not let others live in your head rent free 😄😅
I thought you might be well read enough to understand but I stand corrected.

RystyT, this same poster repeatedly called me a liar when I told of a black friend of mine, who is Dominican, complete with cedula, who was locked up several times, although I am pleased to say she was not beaten up or raped. My response to him was much the same - you have no idea what goes on in the real DR, being more interested in "fine dining".
Real DR? I would suggest that the real DR is mainly not in the tourist areas, which seem to attract the grifters, criminals, parasites, molesters.... etc. Many poor Dominicans and Haitians may not be well educated but they are experts at gaining sympathy and $$ from Gringos.

The longer you live here, the more you realise that the hatred towards Haitians by Dominicans is absolutely entrenched. Sure they all deny that they hate them, but I have never ever heard a Dominican say a positive word about Haitians. "I'm not anti Haitian but they all stink" is a pretty typical response. I have kids in school here and they are pretty much taught that it's OK to hate Haitians. Racism is bad and we should all love each other, but obviously that doesn't apply to Haitians. (And this in a convent school).

Trust me there are very few Dominicans losing sleep over the treatment of Haitians. And zero appetite for issuing work visas.

Obviously this is based on my own personal experience of living and working in the capital for over 12 years, I speak Spanish fluently and only hang around with Dominicans. I'm sure some on here will argue with me.

Mass deportation are one thing but one needs to scrutinize how all of these illegals entered the country in the first place. I would be more interested in seeing numbers of how many are detained trying to enter the country (does that ever get reported?)
The deported will easily cross the border and return to DR. I'm sure the border patrol agents are very happy about this $$$
Christmas money!

I think it's safe to say there is close to zero appetite for doing those hard dirty jobs too...it'll be interesting to watch this unfold over time

Especially for the buttons that the Haitians get paid. Dominicans will demand proper pay, insurance, everyone will have to be registered with the TSS, taxes paid, it will be much more expensive for the employers.

Well, we certainly don't allow that kind of attitude in our school. We have around 30 Haitian kids in the school. They and the Dominican kids are very friendly with each other, some are besties. Perhaps it is different in a more rural agricultural community. We have giant green houses and plant nurseries that employ a lot of both Dominicans and Haitians. I notice friendly interaction between Haitian and Dominican adults, including ones that are clearly in a relationship. Some kids are stinky, but in our case none of them are the Haitian kids.

What you stated above is 100% correct. Others can argue, but they would be wrong.
