One province in Canada had to restrict the supply to US customers due to excessive demand for weight loss purposes. You do lose some weight but in conjunction with proper diet and exercise as noted in the Ozempic information. Obesity in the DR is a problem, and the effects like early onset diabetes, and heart disease put a significant strain on the medical system. Drugs like Ozempic are not a panacea for obesity. Just a stop gap measure for those that can afford it.
pica pollo and fried foods is the problem

The regulation of fat in the body is a complex neurophysiological process. Ridding the body of unwanted fat accumulation is not as easy as walking a few miles per day, even at a good pace. The initial focus needs to be on the proper functioning of the endocrine system, especially the proper balance and maintenance of blood glucose levels. For this to happen, you need to be fortunate enough to have all systems working at 100% like thyroid, pancreas, liver and kidney. Many folks suffer from autoimmune disorders which make this job extremely difficult. Diabetes 1 is almost impossible to eat your way to, it is basically a congenital defect. Diabetes 2 can be spawned of so many things, hepatitis B, C, alcohol, drugs, pharmaceuticals, fatty liver(stenosis) just to name a few. Diabetes 1 patients are generally skinny, whereas D2 folks tend to be overweight. Once you start throwing pharmaceuticals at an issue, your neurophysiological systems adapt and it becomes impossible to walk it back. Perfect example here are the statins. Another example is Metformin. Beta blockers, if you are on those, also can negatively impact metabolic processes.

I wish we could just tell overweight folks to excerise and not eat french fries, but it's much more complicated. On the other side of that coin, there are health fanatics who have consumed exorbitant amounts of supplements and steroids, etc. Also many who have cut out carbs completely who, over time, do irreparable damage to these systems as well and end up dying and suffering just as much as someone who lived without abandon.

Bottom line, see a qualified medical professional.

It turns out there's a natural equivalent. Beberin.

Look it up on Amazon, read the reviews, and note how high it's rated.

Worth a try for me. I'm going with this one.

Who knew?
Unreal. Remember in the 80s folks were buying all these diet powders. Remember all the heart attacks and strokes. Can't you just see a specialist? You read reviews on Amazon so now you're all in? What if a five star review was written by a serial killer or other sociopath? Who's writing these reviews and we are like, hey I'm in!

I went to my other favorite pharmacy this afternoon to see if they also carry Ozempic now.

They do, and their price with their discount was just 10K for the monthly injections. Not generics either, they are from Novo South America.

I mentioned before I would not spend 1.2k USD a month on Ozempic, For less than 200 USD I think it's worth a try.

Unfortunately, that does not work for all people. Also, as you age your metabolism slows making it harder to lose weight, not impossible just harder.

Totally agree RDK. My father used to say if you want to lose weight, push yourself away from the table when you’re still a bit hungry. I thought he was joking but there is some truth in it. I read somewhere that it takes 20 minutes or more for your brain to realize you have food in your stomach. Many people overeat quickly to eliminate the feeling of hunger and the result is weight gain.

Eating slowly will aid your digestion process and reduce your weight gain. When I was working, I ate on the run and, even though I was active, I packed on the pounds quickly. It took a while for me to break that bad habit. That plus the more obvious things like a better diet and exercise allowed me to drop my excess weight slowly over a period of two years. I’ve seen my friends lose weight quickly and gain it back just as quickly. The slow and steady approach is much better. I haven’t gained my weight back after 20 years and, as I aged, it made dealing with my medical issues much easier.

Programs like NOOM focus on your eating habits, both good and bad and resets your brain. With a bit of willpower, you can do it yourself. My DR diet vices are rice and beans and empanadas. I’m addicted to them. I added more fruit to my diet to reduce my daily intake of the rice, beans, and empanadas. I didn’t lose weight but I didn’t gain weight. You don’t have to bust your ass exercising or starve yourself to lose weight. Simple things done slowly are more effective as you age and your metabolism slows down.
