He opted out of paying his own lawyer because he did not wish to have to deal with a lawsuit. Instead he settled for about half of what the contract said he was owed in deductions to the purchase price. And there were still a number of unresolved building issues. He just got fed up. It was either accept their offer or lawyer up.
I assume he got in under the old price structure so he shouldn't have any problem selling.

I think he took the bait between 3 and 4 years ago and settled for less of a price reduction by about 50% less than promised out of court about 22 months after the promised delivery date by Casa Linda.

I don't know how much the almost two years of renting cost him, and time will tell how long before it sells. Nobody has jumped on the deal when he first listed it. Now he has it listed with a DR broker he liked.

Cabarete
There's a huge new project going in between Banco Popular and Hotel Kaoba. Too much traffic to try and read the sign that was there.

Correction: It's between Banco Popular and the gym to the west. It's a big site. I saw a "sales and rentals" sign today. The way drivers tail-gate you here, I knew if I slowed down to read the sign, I'd get rear-ended by the car behind me.

And a good size piece of land was cleared adjacent to Marreal Cabarete . Just west of it. Not sure if that is for the new car dealership or yet another houseing project.

Many have said the same about Sosua Bay, the beaches of Puerto Plata etc..

More developments are coming. I heard the environmental issue was dune related.

By the time these villas are completed, there will be so much traffic on that road that speed bumps may not be necessary.

Yep. It was in most of the daily rags here. I think it's a money grab.

Thanks to Taylor, I have information about this new project called Sunset By The Sea which says it is in Punta Goleta, but is actually in the El Rocon region on the north side of route 5 across from the entrance to the now under construction Cabarete Country Club:

file:///C:/Users/User/Downloads/TdR-Proyecto-SUNSET-BY-THE-SEA-Cabarete.pdf

A supermarket, clubhouse, 6 story condo buildings with 168 apartments, 35 villas, etc. All the information is in the downloadable PDF file.

Anyone have an update on connections? It doesn't look like much progress has been made and it as one of the first go start during this current phase of expansion.

Huge egg on the Casa Linda operators, it doesn't show well for them. Years late and doesn't look like it's close to being finished. I'm surprised there isn't a class action lawsuit on their hands.

Rumour has it the first 2 condo buildings are sold out & are going to be delivered in 30 days with none of the promised amenities. The walk-to-the-beach price point for Encuentro in the mid $200s looks to be a bargain these days. They have apparently had stumbles with the first builder who had to be replaced. Agree, Casa Linda's good reputation is on the line. Connections condos are surrounded with successful Encuentro projects-while it lays less than half done. Not a good look. However, the Connections villa piece looks to be mostly finished, while still lacking paved roads & lighting. The newer Surf Village villa project across the road puts Casa Linda to shame.
