What is wrong with Sosua being the hoe & party town of DR ??? I may be wrong but I dont see a problem with it , there are a lot of other places in DR where tourists can vacation. Let the mongers go to Sosua, even act like they are super Pimps and protect sex workers, while others like me with kids or with different focus visit other towns. There are plenty of alternatives in DR if I don't want hear someone sexcapades over breakfast. On the other hand, they should focus on keeping prostitution in other tourist towns very discreet.

After all, it works for beautiful Thailand (where they have spot favored for family, party/hoes chasing town like Pattaya and even other spots for for raves and/or stoners). Why not DR ?

Seems easier to achieve at this point :smoke:

The DR government disagrees. And it disagrees in general about the image Sosua and Boca Chica have given to the DR. It's all about the internet and the indiscreet.

Prostitution was only moved a short distance down one street in Sosua.

There is significant re-development money to be tapped into.

Think of it that way. We have no say, it's their country. Check what has been written about this in DR news and what has been said at government meetings. The Dominicans are fed up.

And exactly how would they track these people down? Perhaps any one they stumbled across would do.

And what laws would they use? I know, anyone they make up.

Just arrest a couple of Johns as they negotiate with hookers, while they are at it.

Why would you track them down, they're basically on the street begging for attention.

Is that fence done yet between the main road and the land behind Sosua beach?

I think so. And with all the plans being drawn and things being built, it sure seems like it.

Don't know about the fence. I'm in the States getting ready to stuff my face with Turkey and Sides.

But what I do find odd about the fence is the woven wire. You don't put up woven wire junk yard fence in front of a hotel/condo development. But it could be temporary to just close the place in and keep out trespassers during construction. Then cut the woven wire down and put up a proper wall befitting a Ritz Carlton. Right Big?

I wish I owned Sosua Beach.

Well they used the same premises to deport Bobby and Armando, and they were no broke punks, so why wouldn't it stick to one of these clowns? Just one example and that'd be it. TaylorMade isn't posting on YouTube anymore, I guess he came to his senses and realized that the airport is very close to Sosua.

PS. Whatever happened to Blanka hahaha, I think he was the most ridiculous of them all. That clown was flooding YouTube with his stupid videos.

DOMINICANS are calling for this. So that re-development money will come in. And it is their country. This is obviously the source of your confusion.

I don't know the difference in the user names here on DR1 between the Dominicans and the others, but some of the folks I do know to one degree or another. Many of those here are squealing as if their tails have been stepped on. It is none of the Americans' or Canadians' business if the Dominicans wand to allow freedom within their borders or not!

gets annoyed when I travel to Sosua for
a day to relax and I find myself surrounded
by loud mouthed drunk tourist who seem
to have zero respect for the local people,
including those of us who live here?

To me, this is just as much about prostitution
as it is the disrespectful in-your-face behavior
from the people flying down here to partake in it.

Clearly they have worn out their welcome. Change
appears to be coming and in my opinion its long
over due.

I hope they start closing off the street again in
the evening and let businesses bring out their
tables and chairs.

I've lived in (Charamicos) Sosua. Have Dominican
friends living up there who feel the exact same way.
My comfort? Don't be so short sighted. Learn to take
a step back and see the bigger picture... It may lead
you to a brighter future.

Perhaps you can tell us where in this country you are
living and I will start recommending it the loud obnoxious
drunken tourist I meet on PC tomorrow while in Sosua?

But you have stated that you go to Sosua for the purpose of becoming annoyed because of how Sosua is. Doesn't seem sane to me. Like the gay bars in Ft Lauderdale at one point. The police raided them and claimed they were offended by the activity therein. A judge ruled that they went there for the purpose of being offended. So if you stay home or go to another beach you won't be able to feel offended, right?

If they want to start work quickly, the fence is the best option to stop thieves along with some watchmen. Commonly done with some posts and sheet metal, the poles and chain link are far more luxurious.

Let's see how long it is before ground is broken for the new "towers" I was told were going in along the beach and the casitas are "Pastorized"...

Yesterday I was having a bite to eat at Schlemmerstube, the only bar/restaurant left open in the old "strip" and was thinking exactly the same. If they did that and paved the street nicely, people would certainly find the environment more pleasant.

As for the fence on the main road above Sosua beach, when I passed the other day it looked as if they were building a car park up there. I may be wrong about that, but if I'm right it would also be an improvement, making it unnecessary to park in the small streets at either end of the beach or run the gauntlet of traffic on the main road.

From everything I have heard, that ain't no car park behind the beach. Let's see how long it takes for construction to start on the new buildings going in on that land. I can hear the doubters now. Nothing changes, nothing changes, nothing....

As for the closing of that small section of the street, they really do need a place for people to park, but I do agree the street closure would be a good thing.

So if After One does open up the it just reiterates my earlier point that the prostitutes will start off the evening hanging around Kings new location and then others will be there when After One opens so in effect the problem will not be solved at all. At least with other establishments moving to the other end of Pedro Clisante then there was visibly less prostitutes in the main area where the city want to make it more family orientated. But with Kings and After One I see it going back to the main problem why these places got shut down in the first place! I understand what Rays 'intention' is, but these girls will go wherever there are guys and the only thing I see that will happen is the police will get even more aggressive than they are now with the girls directly in front of the tourists making it look even worse!

My answer is, I don't have the first damn clue. Maybe the prostitutes will just stay down at the other end of town where they are "tolerated", and maybe the police will stop the girls from loitering BEFORE it gets to become a problem.

I'm an educated man, but I'm afraid I can't speak intelligently about how the government will address the situation or how the prostitutes will react. Any speculation will be as useful as telling you I have a brother in Peoria, who had a bar in Ft. Lauderdale, 40 years ago, with prostitutes loitering outside, and how they published the names of the men involved with them, and important names came out, and a federal judge put an end to it.

I'm just stating what I was told by the actual parties involved, not opinion, not speculation and certainly not some archaic story that has nothing to do with the OP.

this forum can continue traveling to Sosua and having a
good time with all of the wonderful things floating about
and at the same time, those of us who want a little rest
and relaxation can do so without being pestered or annoyed
by guys like you :cheeky:
