The word I learnt for slap was torta, so when I heard galleta in DR it still made sense.
So we're of Italian decent and my old man and grandmother would slap us with the dough for the pasta as they were rolling it, I wonder if that has something to do with the pastry reference lol!

If you read the newspaper in Spanish this word is used everyday because of Coronavirus. It is an everyday word in general but even more so because of all the pandemic discussions.

I think moreno/morena is a better word to use. But I will wait to hear the language expert. Mulato/mulata is mixed and trigueño/trigueña darker or of color maybe. Not even sure then if its brunette.
Both are used. I am black I am called morena, negra and morenita to describe me.
Negra is often used as a term endearment as in mi negra (both men and women). In piropos, always morena.
Interesting. Neg, short for negro, is what all guys are called in Haiti. Li neg mwen!
BTW, what is piropos?
Piropos is when Dominican men call you out in the street, a national past time in DR
(although not unique to DR)
